Don't push Fall in my face!

Started 1373985928.8 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1374017974.287 by milly

I am just getting in the Summer groove here, and they are talking about Fall fashions. Its so depressing!! Yes, I do think Fall and Winter fashion has more to choose from, but sheesh! Give a Chicago girl a break here. Yes, I know they do this to generate sales, but if I start seeing Thanksgiving decorations in the stores next week I will freak out!!

Fall decorations are already in the stores in my area.

Summer clothing are already on clearance here and if you needed a swimsuit this year, you were pretty much out of luck by about mid-June.

Stores have always been a season ahead for as far back as I can remember, and that's well over 50 years. I remember as a kid getting my back-to-school clothes in August, but couldn't wear them for back to school until at least mid-October.

Enjoying my retirement 1 cup of coffee at a time.

NOT invisible anymore, so get over it! I'm not gonna disappear :)

I don't mind seeing some fall things. I am done buying anything for summer, have enough. All the summer stuff is on sale around here too. The stores are always so ahead of the seasons.

Back-to-school sales are on here already, and school doesn't start until the day after Labor Day. I mean c'mon...we haven't had a month of summer weather yet up here.

I'm already working on Fall and Winter accessories and sweaters.

The knitwear I've been seeing from European designers will work with my style - interesting silhouettes - I'm making a few new pieces.

It's not fun working with wool on these hot humid summer days, but when the weather changes, I'll be all ready!

I welcome seeing Fall stuff, its too hot here in Texas! I would rather be cold than too hot anyday. Christmas in July is coming up on several shopping shows and there is information out about what will be popular this Fall. Of course I am a Fall gal too! I loved the summer when I was younger, but not now. I prefer Fall and Spring. School starts soon here in Texas also. I am already doing some Christmas shopping. I hate crowds and parking problems. Last weekend the Hallmark channels had Christmas movies to help promote their new ornament line each season.

I remember as a kid getting school clothes back East and wearing them and sweating in them when school started in September! We all had to wear our new duds though! I am also done shopping for summer. I have already bought a pair of boots on sale for the winter, that will be marked up later!!! To each his own though!

Went to Michaels to pick up something over the weekend.

All the fall floral and crafty pumpkin stuff was up and running.

ugh.

I guess it's an individual thing, but don't see how anybody can hate fall...

As for seeing fall things in stores in mid-summer, that's nothing new to retail. It's the same principle by which we begin to see shorts and bathing suits in mid-winter, Christmas decorations at or before Halloween, etc... Retail is always ahead of the actual seasons. By the end of the month, if not sooner, we'll be seeing coats and sweaters arriving in stores and won't be able to find a beach towel or bathing suit other than on clearance...

As for me, I'm pretty much a fall person. I'm already sick of the steam heat and am looking forward to cooler weather and being able to open windows again. The only thing I'll miss is more hours of daylight.

Now I wear sandals here in Texas in Nov. and pull them out for some days in Dec. too.

Have had rain the past few days and the temp. has only been in the 90's because of the cloud coverage. Everyone is in such a good mood and loving even the lightening coming down!!

Texas and summer is not a pretty sight and we still have Aug. & Sept. to get through which is why I love looking a fall things. Therapy.

Yes, I went to Michael's around the July 4th holiday to get some patriotic-type flowers for the graveyard. Couldn't find a thing -- it was all Fall/Halloween stuff! Ridiculous.

I don't want to see fall! I don't like buying boots, sweaters and coats and bundling up to go outside! Cold weather from November through April!

I have too many cute new summer clothes I still need to wear!

I love, love, love summer and like fall even better. Although I like to fully enjoy both seasons, now is the time I start to look for fall clothing. I don't mind that they are introducing fall clothing because they are still offering and presenting the summer stuff.

I love the summer, and this year - after having received 36" inches of snow during February's blizzard - I want the warm (even hot) weather to last as long as it can!

Carolyn , just now on D&CO. say "we will be bringing in Fall and Winter fashions very soon".

Yep, we want to start spending money on stuff we can't wear for months yet. LOL

Fall is my favorite season, can't wait, bring it on. I don't need any new fall fashions tho.

OP- I am not trying to be snarky but do you get out much? This happens every year. By the 4th of July all summer clothing is on clearance, Back to school supplies fill the stores and we are off to Fall.

KEEP LOOKIN' UP 'cuz that's where it all is!

I can't wait to get past this hot weather. I love fall and winter but our winters are not bad. I was just outside with the dogs and it is so hot and humid the air felt like it was burning my nose to breathe it. I am not a fan of summer weather at all!

Every window in NYC is FALL. It's mid July, and every year at this time Fall is everywhere. They can't still be promoting summer clothes when they are all on sale. This is nothing new. As long as I don't see a Christmas tree, or hear Christmas songs I'm OK with looking at fall

Well, this past weekend Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel ran nothing but Christmas movies! {#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

I haven't been really seeing too many fall things in my area yet but I've not been in the craft stores, etc. where they would be.

I heard on the news and read in some money articles that summer stuff is going to be at better clearance pricing than ever this year because summer got such a late start for many, the merchandise just wasn't moving. There are plenty of summer clothes and bathing suits to be had in my area and much of it is deeply discounted.

OP, next weekend is x-mas in July on QVC and tomorrow is x-mas in July on HSN so you might what to steer clear. And once QVC does the x-mas in July programming, it's full steam ahead for the holiday programming. The 25th of every month will be holiday programming and the show names will start changing to gifting shows and decorating shows.

You can't buy love but you can adopt it. Adopt, don't shop.

This is me too. I have way too much summer stuff, and I'm enjoying wearing it!

I've begun purchasing for fall to make sure I get what I want, in my size. Everything sells out so early. I don't mind purchasing ahead!
