Do you have ugly toes?

Started 1364498708.96 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1372207034.517 by cottage~in~the~valley

If so, do you wear sandals anyway, or do you keep them covered? My toes are really long, and I have a toe fungus on just one foot that I can't get rid of.

So many cute sandals out there....I hate to pass them up. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

What on earth would lead any woman to believe that long toes are ugly? Oh heavens no! Some of the most beautiful women on earth are known for their large feet and long elegant toes. They look extra pretty with polish and make your legs look like they go on forever. You are blessed to have them. Enjoy them and show them off. A true mark of beauty.

If you want some grounds for a positive comparison...look at a Barbie doll. Those tiny feet look ridiculous yet we've been conditioned to believe that smaller is better when in truth it is out of proportion and she would look much better with long lovely feet. Well enough of that!

As for the Nail fungus. That is a work in progress and with all things what you put your attention to is what will change.

Actually my feet and ankles are one of my best features! ...so I get regular pedis and have a lot of sandals. However I do have other body parts that one could call ugly. i'm not crazy about my upper arms and keep them covered but would love to go sleeveless someday if I can get them toned!

I've never thought my feet were pretty. I'm constantly working on the rough heels and dry skin issue. I also don't have slender, feminine feet. I wear an 8 1/2 med-wide. (depends on the shoe) My mil (God rest her soul) wore AAA width, always paid for high dollar pedicures, and wore cute shoes. She used to tell me, "I wish I had fat feet like yours so I could go to Walmart and buy cheap shoes, too, but I'm stuck with boutique type stores."

yep...that was her..

Anyway, I just do the best I can with these dry, fat feet. I have three pair of Born flip flops that I like a lot. They have a big flower on the front of the flip flop that blossoms across the toes where the toes are hardly noticeable. I love how they hide my chubby toes. Born makes several different styles with the same large flower hiding the toes. QVC sells at least one of them, and the others are available elsewhere online. Try the "ChaCha" by Born. Google that one.

As for your nails. Of course, it's better to get rid of the fungus if you can. Have you tried laser? They say that kills it on the spot.

I know you're not supposed to wear nail polish on toes with nail fungus because it keeps oxygen from getting to the nailbed and won't let your nails dry thoroughly, but I ran across some nail polish the other day that might not hurt for women with nail fungus. The nail polish was actually developed for women of the Islamic faith because ...well, I can't remember, it has something to do with their religion about nail polish. They are not supposed to wear it because it won't let water to their nails for thorough cleaning, or something. So a company has developed a nail polish that allows oxygen to pass through to the nail and also moisture. With regular nail polish, it would seal the moisture into the infected nail, but this new polish lets both oxygen and water to pass through - not trapping moisture there. Do an Internet search for the brand. It's called Inglot O2M. The colors are limited but at least it's a healthier polish for nails. It's also free of toluene, formaldehyde, phthalates, and camphor.

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem. I have not been able to get rid of the ugly toenails on my big toes even while under the care of a doctor and perscriptions. I still put stuff on the toe nails to keep it at bay. I try have some transitional shoes that are like sandals with a closed toe area to wear in April and May. They are made by Easy spirit and do not show your toes but they are still strappy sandals. I also try to work on my toe nails and cut and file them down and then put polish on them which makes them look so much better. I use a polish that is more in the beigy family so as not to attract attention to my toenails like OPI's Barefoot in Barcelona. I love sandals and can not stand not wearing them. I have actually had fake toenails put on my big toes but stopped it as its not healthy.

Oh I forgot to say there is an anti fungal polish called Dani Pro that I have used too. I forgot about that one. My doctor knows about my polish using and that I am not going to stop it!! She understands how hard it is to get rid of fungus..I have had it for well over twenty years...tried everything.

cute post {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}!

I don't have particularly beautiful feet (some women do and I am envious!), but I do wear sandals. If people don't like my feet, they don't have to look at hem...right?

I do get pedi's all summer!

Oh, another tip. If you're going to wear nail polish, get some disposable polish applicators at the beauty supply and use a new one each time you paint the infected nail. That way, you won't risk spreading the infection to the other nails.

I like my feet, they look pretty good. Can't wait for sandal weather.

oh, dear. i hate to be the lone dissenter here, but i wouldn't dream of showing my feet unless they are perfectly pedicured. i consider it my civic duty. i hate to see someone's grody toes! and fungus...well, i don't suffer from this but if i did, i would NEVER let them be seen in public!

you can't really "rock" sandals if you have gross toes. wear fisherman sandals instead.

Me too, I have small feet, and nice toes, one of my best features.

I feel lucky that I have nice feet. They are narrow, which makes it hard to find shoes sometimes. My little toes on both feet are hammertoes, but the condition is not terribly pronounced.

I get professional pedicures every three weeks and slather on exfoliating foot cream (Philosophy's Soul Owner) every night before bed.

I so wish I had gorgeous feet, but I don't. I always wear closed toe shoes to work. I won't subject other people to my less than perfect feet...

I don't think my toes are ugly, and even if I did I would wear whatever shoe I chose to wear. As long as my feet are comfy that's all I care about.

If anyone judges your toes, well, that is their darn problem. My feet are starting to show my age, and the joint damage doesn't help. I work on the dry skin, and keep the toes polished as much as possible. Love the pedis! I have a have a fabulous tattoo on my foot, and I'm not giving up my sandals.

Actually, a lot of people actually comment on my pretty feet. I know it sounds insane, but they really do. My neice is an artist and is always begging me to let her paint my feet! No bunions, corns, calluses, hammertoes, etc. at almost 60, I guess that's SOMETHING to be thankful for. Now for the rest of me......................
