Help! I Only Like Skinny Leg Pants Now

Started 1357156577.207 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1357232851.65 by lovestoteach

I have several pairs of really nice pants. The problem is I've gotten used to slim leg pants that I can wear boots over or my shooties! All of the bootcut pants I have that are really nice don't look as good to me. This means half of my pants selections I have to choose from are a non entity.I think I look slimmer in the skinny jeans and leggings. Anyone else have this dilemma? I'd love to hear!

I think it's a matter of what looks good on you. I actually prefer boot cut or straight leg. Plus at my age, I am not running around in leggings. LOL If you like the leggings and skinny jeans/pants, wear them and enjoy them.

Yes, last year bought straight legs and love them. This year 2 pair of skinny jeans and can't seem to take them off. The rise is slightly taller and they just fit like a glove. Levi's all the way... One pair of old boot cut just sit on the shelf.

I am still on the hunt for a chambray, slightly faded slim leg jean that comes up to the waist; and with pockets. Want them to be very cotton-rich though... and soft. Almost a legging but a slight bit looser.

I feel the same way, OP. I think I look a bit more current in straight leg or skinnies.

I buy expensive suits. They just look cheap on me.

I only wear skinny or straight ... or wide leg. I never liked the way the bootcut pants looked on me.

I still like the look of fuller legged pants but I switched to all skinnies after I had a bad fall, caused by tripping on the hem of my pants. I don't wear shoes in the house and the wider legs need a longer hem to look good. With a slim leg the length doesn't have to be as exact, there is no extra fabric flapping around and I can give them a quick cuff if need be while in the house. I don't wear them skin tight!

Well I love my favorite Levis and wear them to death. They are straight and boot cut and won't wear my other jeans unless I have to - so most of the jeans in my closet are "back-ups" for when I can't wear my favorites. I haven't found a pair of skinny jeans I really love - but tight pants make me grumpy!

My "deal" is that I must wear pants that are acceptable for work... so they need to look tailored. At work I also can only function with pockets and belt loops... that is just how it is. I might have to give up fashion for function. A pair of chambray, cottony, slim jeans would be for non-work times or days when people at school are agreed to dress in a "laid-back" way... I will find them one of these days!

My school has a pretty relaxed dress code - so it's usually Dockers for work. Yup - pockets, belt, machine wash, little or no iron required - throw on a nice sweater and I'm out the door. I have fun with fashion after school and weekends.

I had always been told that my inverted-triangle figure should only wear bootcut or wide-leg pants, and I still think those look okay. But in 2012, I worked up my courage and tried a pair of pants with a narrow leg. I love them and how I look in them! Who knew?

Out and about over the holidays the look was definitly slim pants and great boots. I noticed it looked flattering on nearly everyone.

I think it is important to wear what you feel great in. Put away your other slacks and enjoy what you think is flattering. You can always change your mind.

I never felt the boot cut pants look was anyone's friend. I liked that fashion trends involved flat front slacks or jeans with a bit of a boot cut over heels about 5 years ago but that look does not appear as current to me. The boot cut with a higher waist is very difficult to wear. Most modern cut slacks are not cut to show off an hoursglass figure so they kinda take on a stuffed sausage casing look from the knee up which isn't balanced with the flared bottoms. The fit on pants in the rise is so difficult that there is just too much room for error.

I like many styles of jeans/pants (trouser, bootcut, straight, slim) and have all of them in my wardrobe. I have only recently added the straight and slim cuts, though, and really like them best at the moment. I wear the various cuts with different types of footwear, so there is a place for all of them. I don't like "skinnies" for myself, because I don't tuck into boots and they just aren't that comfortable to me. I think it's great that there is such variety out there!

{#emotions_dlg.blink} No ... I have all types of pants except wide leg.. I am much too short and too small for those type of pants ..Everything else looks very nice on me. If the boot leg style does not look good on you donate them to charity and buy more of the slim leg pants that flatter you. Hope that helps{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Magnolia, I'm with you. I keep buying skinny pants or jeans even if the shopping trip starts out with me determined to buy a pair of classic trousers. I have preferred the straight leg on my figure since th beginning of time (or at least my fashion buying time), and never thought bootcut was my look. Palazzo pants will work on me if worn with an fitted top, but I just don't like them.

I've been a skinny junkie since about 2 years ago and I've got a bunch of colors, washes, fabrics, and prints! Love 'em. Proportion is key, so I think most people can actually wear them if the fit is proper and they balance the top of their frame properly.

Hi, Magnoliams. I agree with you. I'm rather slight built, only 5 foot 2 and an X Small in QVC sizing and I never liked the boot cut style. I think perhaps because my legs are not very long they don't look nice on me. The problem I am having now is that I can't find comfortable shoes to wear with these narrow leg pants - my fashionista friends here are telling me my clarks are a no-no and I'm at an age where I need to be comfortable. I'm too old for those Uggie things. I'm not sure what is appropriate.

Kaye bee, I posted to you on your other thread that you could wear your Clarks sock-less, or with peds that don't show, and that would be alright with your skinny jeans and leggings. Give that look a try and see how you like it. Like I said in my post to you, the model on the video was wearing your shoes (without socks) with her skinnies. Did you check it out?

I like your shoes. They are really cute.

Oh I really love wearing skinny jeans now! Just this year I've come to love wearing high boots. I love the look of skinny jeans with some fab boots! I never knew boots were so comfortable! I also wear boot cut jeans with high heels. Gee I love being a girl! Smile

Love my "Pure Michigan"

I'm loving the skinny jeans too. Beats the heck out of leggings for me but I also have some pretty great bootcut jeans that fit well too. You will be in style for a long time as I don't think the skinnies will be going out of style for awhile. They look too good with boots. Enjoy!!!
