AlAnn264 PostsJoined 10/6/2011 I have 3 this year and all are very casual. I really miss the parties my company used to have. They were at very nice places and you needed to get dressed up. I would spend a lot of time shopping for just the right dress and accessories. Now with the economy we just have something at the office and everyone just has their office attire on.

Angry Bird1355320550.2034365 PostsRegistered 10/17/2007TX Friday is our office party and we are having a dinner, raffle-we bring toys for Shriner's Children Hospital and get a raffle ticket for prizes. They are also having the ugly Christmas sweater contest. The owner is providing the meal and drinks (3 drink limit) and designated drivers for those who get need to get home safely. Nothing completes an outfit better than wearing some dog or cat fur.... A couple - and they are at restaurants where you can dress up a little. I bought a blue ponte knit Susan Graver dress with velvet dots on it (sleeveless) so I got a matching blue velvet shrug to wear with it. I'll also wear that to church on Christmas eve. Our NYE plans are casual. LipstickDiva1355321440.03329260 PostsRegistered 4/22/2005On the Lake in Ohio None. LOL DH's party was Friday evening and was super casual. It was at a local bar. My office has a x-mas luncheon during work hours at a restaurant. Not sure what I'm wearing on x-mas eve, x-mas day and have no plans as of right now for New Year's Eve. I worked for over half a century, but never really liked the office party thing - too many problems coming out of many of them. I always went and dressed appropriately, but usually found some reasonable excuse to leave early before the heavy drinking got underway. Just not my thing! There might also be something impromptu near or just after New Year's too, haven't heard for sure. I'm just sticking to my good old standby dressy-fabric black or black&ivory, varying it with different bags, shoes, 'statement' jewelry. I'd been looking around here&there ever since Sept. for some dressy clothes because that's an area I'm a bit limited in. Never found one blessed thing I genuinely loved, or even liked -- too sparkly/shiny, or cheap-looking, or not my better color(s), or didn't fit by miles... or WAY out of my price range, considering hub & I don't do all-out dressy very often except for these late-year holidays. Halcyon1355325521.2771462 PostsRegistered 11/18/2010 To date, I have attended five Christmas affairs, with four more celebrations on the calendar before the 25th. Phew! Six of the nine events require evening formal or very festive attire. I have only purchased two new gowns for these occasions, for thankfully, my wardrobe supports the others rather nicely. I adore Christmas celebrations!

traveler1355328426.4679981 PostsRegistered 12/14/2004 One on Friday. It is a bowling party again with the squadron commander and Native Contractor chairman coming. Food will be pizzas. I don't bowl but like the camaraderie so will go. Wearing jeans and nice top, probably a sweater. I miss the parties when DH was active duty but times change. outlaw Stolen Valor ~Lucky Lu~1355330144.01708 PostsRegistered 8/15/2007Go Get 'Em Tigers! Two at work, both super-casual. I wore trouser jeans and a wintry-scene fleece cardigan to the first; I'll wear jeans and a library-Christmas sweatshirt to the second. My family is very casual, also. We used to dress up for Christmas Eve Mass and dinner out, but it's hard to find a restaurant that is open. So, now we change into comfy clothes and have potluck at my eldest DD's house. No plans for NYE. Fifty Shades of Honolulu Blue: Rooting for a sports team has never felt like this. Three, probably four. But I won't be wearing velvet, sequins, beading or chiffon. Today's Christmas parties aren't like the parties we went to years ago. I miss that because big parties gave me an opportunity to get all dressed up. Dress up now means a sparkly top or gold sandals with your jeans. The company I work for stopped throwing the big sit down dinner with a band 10 years ago. I miss that too. We're hosting a Christmas Eve party and we're invited to a couple of house parties. Like I said, jeans and a sparkly top......and my good jewelry. I love mine - very classic style then the shrug adds a current touch. I wear a size smaller on tops than bottoms so I did have to tailor the top quite a bit but now it fit like a glove. And taking in a sleeveless top is fairly simple. I think the simple, classic design of this will make it last many years and for any occasion. My neighbor across the street got it in Wine with the jacket/tank that was the TSV. Also very pretty. I just had one last weekend. It was at a nice club with my sweetie's company. I wore a Luly Yang couture hand beaded silk tapestry bolero over a silk Charmeuse green wrap gown. I was glad to be able to reach into my closet and have some great choices. I didn't even consider shopping. The other women there were dressed up in their own special way. Lots of really great jewelry. We will go out for festive shopping and dinner Saturday and I'm wearing a drop waist crinoline slip...It flounces out at about mid thigh under a stretch velvet tunic. I like it with a pair of lace up high heel boots. Very holiday Boho. The Weekend before Christmas is family time and I'll be in tights and a skirt or leggings but casual enough that I can sit on the floor and play with barbies with the nieces or help bake cookies in my socks. There will be a variety of family parties. cairnlover1355334785.3272468 PostsRegistered 7/29/2006 So happy to be going to ZERO Christmas parties! New Years Eve will be a house party with close friends & is always casual. I would be very unhappy to have to purchase fancy clothes that I'd only wear once! winamac11355334958.8823197 PostsRegistered 12/29/2010Indiana a sorority party a family party a friend's party I usually wear a blingy type of top or sweater, some dressier shoes, either super dark "dressy" style jeans or black pants and some fun jewelry Last edited on 12/12/2012 "Friends don't let friends...drink white zinfandel"
