TJ Maxx and Marshalls brands

Started 1355177225.063 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1355280101.147 by baby burns

Hi there - I'm curious about what brands TJ Maxx and Marshall's owns and what exclusive licensing deals do they have? It seems like I don't always recognize the brands in the stores and curious what are private labels

I'll be curious to see if anyone responds, and to learn if these stores have any proprietary brands. I shop at TJ Maxx fairly often, and much of what I see there carries familiar national/international brand labels. These stores carry quite a number of overstock, closeouts, discontinued items, etc........but I also see some imports and items with less familiar labels. Interesting question!

That is a good quesstion. I wasn't aware they had any brands that were their own, thought they only sold others brands as they liquidated them.

I thought they were just outlet stores - if so they wouldn't have their own brands since all they sell are other stores left over merchandise.

They own the Willi Smith line which I believe is being phased out. and replaced with the Valerie Bertinelli line, which was quite prominent this Fall season. They also own a DannySero or something like that name line of natural green housewares. There is also a third one but we don't carry it at my store yet, and I have forgotten what the name was... sorry.

There are also a few that I suspect are also ours but are not acknowleded as such.

you have to be careful shopping these stores, check everything over, because sometimes, they are seconds, and have flaws in them. i do not like buying there because i feel i do not know who wore them before, and the sizing is strange. i do buy other things, soaps, jewelery, ect. i have gotten some things that were perfect, but you have to be careful, also sometimes they are old stock too!

They are an outlet.....they sell job lots of unsold merchandise from many manufacturers. They don't have a "house label"

Don't forget Home Goods, they are all owned by the same. I need a 12-step program dealing with Home Goods and TJ. I love them and spend too much money there. I'm not crazy about Marshalls and rarely shop there, although I found a few pieces of luggage at a good price.

I've never had a problem with anything I bought at any of the stores. Their return policy is fantastic.

I've never found a thing in either and find them extremely junky. I enjoy shopping where I have some assistance in putting outfits together, or gathering items the sales associates I know, KNOW I will love! That to me is a fun shopping experienc. I know some enjoy the hunt, I don't!

Actually, I think 80% of their merchandise is new, and only 20% is past season.

Great values. I love TJMaxx.

By law, "Imperfect" and "Second" must be clearly marked on the item

You could say all of these things about QVC merchandise.

PAST SEASON Must be indicated on the tag, Marshalls complies. Very little merchandise is past season.

Marshall's always has collections of the following, which are probably licensed for Marshalls

Kenar

Max Studio

Ralph Lauren (lesser quality)

These lines may or may not be licensed: Tommy Hilfiger / DKNY

Michael Kors - they usually have a T-square or Rounder with a good selection of current MK.
I found MK styles at Marshalls that concurrently sold at Macy's

TJs only line that I know of is Willi Smith, I still see collections. Valerie Bertinelli is not exclusive to TJs, also sold at Marshalls.

TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Home Goods are all owned by the same parent company, so at times you may see some cross-over merchandise in all three.

I have actually seen the same things in Marshall's as at Macy's, at the same time, but of course for much less at Marshall's.

I'm always happy with my purchases at these stores. I generally find what I'm looking for!

Many of their "brands" are garments that any company can put their label on and some are leftover from the season that did not sell to stores. I find I can do better at Department Store sales.

Too bad about Willi Smith that is the only brand there that I look for, I did notice that the stock is getting smaller. I dont find a lot of clothing there to buy but it's fun to look.

I don't buy clothes there but I do buy purses and I see purses there from Tig and BMak that were on QVC the season before.

I love TJMaxx and Marshalls. AJWright is also another store under that umbrella but that store was really junky.

You do have to be careful when shopping there and make sure to check everything over. I found my first pair of Coldwater Creek knit jeans from one of these stores for $9.99. They had the CWC tag on them still. However, they did have a second pair there I was going to buy and they were clearly defective which is why I would guess they were at this store instead of CWC. Once I looked at the label, they were marked "Imperfect."

I also see a lot of BMak and Tig bags along with Coach, D&B, Michael Kors, etc. Many items still have the dept. store tag on them with the full price.

You can't buy love but you can adopt it. Adopt, don't shop.

I bought a pair of Michael Kors black leather gloves at TJ's last night. I had seen them at Macys yesterday and was wishing I could have them. $80 at Macys and $30 at TJs! They are black with an "industrial " type zipper on the front of them. HAPPY!

Great example for those who think TJ's carries only "old" merchandise. Congratulations on your score!

I was told that our TJ Maxx is one of the biggest retailers in the West! So we get better merchandise & alot more of it, jewelry too! My sales person said they are getting a truck a day until Christmas. Naturally I have been shopping alot. I see most of the designer merchandise is the same as Macy's only much less expensive!

Apparently there is a lot of difference in these stores in different locales. I was in TJ's this morning, and most of what I saw was NOT junky or "no brand". The store was clean, attractive, and well organized, and staff members offered help several times during my visit. I saw Michael Kors, B Makowski, Ralph Lauren, Cynthia Rowley, and Liz Claiborne among a host of familiar quality labels. Also a really nice selection of designer jewelry. I LOVE the TJ Maxx stores here in north metro Atlanta!

I think it is called "Style Happy" at HomeGoods, that is there own brand. It is carried in towels and bedding. I never thought much of the quality. I used to work for HomeGoods, like any other off-price store some of the things are nice and some are on the cheaper side.
