Do you try on panties before buying ie at Victoria's Secret?

Started 1350947391.767 in Fashion Talk | Last reply 1351201278.28 by sugarflake

I don't know if I missed the boat but I never thought people did this.. I was at a Victoria's Secret this weekend and a lady had a pile of panties in her arms and told the sales erson she needed to try on. The sales person said ok, none of the other 7 worked out? She said no. I just must be living in my own world because I never thought people did this. What do they do with all of the garments she tries on? Maybe someone can enlighten me...

Thanks

there is a hygiene strip on undergarments and bathing suits for trying on in-store. you take it off when if you purchase it. it looks like a panty liner.

I guess like bathing suits. You try on over your own underwear like you do clothes. I always wash my new underwear before wearing. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

VS does not have panty liners in their clothes.

People try on everything.

It's recommended you wash everything before you wear it. That goes especially for all undergarments, even the stuff in plastic packages.

I wouldn't be able to try on VS underwear over my own and see how it looks.

If you're buying briefs or whatever, that's one thing. But the fancier cuts, you need to see how they are going to look.

Usually, when I knwo my size, I don't need to try on. If they come out with a new line, I have to try it on first.

I have in the past, over my own. I now have a good idea of my size, so no need for trying them on.

I tried being patient but it took too long.

Interesting question. It is very rare for me to try on panties, and I have never done it without leaving my own panties on.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

I've never seen a hygiene strip on panties. Seen them on swimsuits but not panties.

When I worked in retail we would accept returns of panties We considered them damaged merchandise marked them out of stock and threw them away.

I have never tried panties on but they do take returns on them I know. I always wash bras and panties before wearing.

Why would anybody need to try on panties. I think or thought that was one item that we all pretty much knew our sizes..If you lost weight the guess test is still pretty accurate.

Well, that hygiene strip will only work for one person. The whole idea is apalling. Since someone else is obviously doing it, I never will. But most of my underwear is mail order from Jockey or in plastic bags from big box stores. I just read in Ladies Home Journal about some woman contracting scabies from cleaning her mother's house. (Hoarder) The mother had bought a used pillow from a thrift store. This makes me think a lot about thrift store shopping, too.

Ugh, nasty! Not only would I never try them on, now I don't even ever want to touch an unpackaged panty again.

Feeling really good about my Walmart 5-pack of white cotton panties right about now.{#emotions_dlg.lol}

I don't know if they should even let you try on panties especially for sanitary reasons. As the sales associate is not in the dressing room with you to see that you use a protective guard or are trying them on over your own panties. I buy Jockey and you cannot try them on. Never have a problem with fit. I will never purchase panties from Victoria Secret after reading this.

Okay, Even IF there was a sanitary strip. HOW many people had tried that same pair on with the strip still there???? Just gross!

Some states do not accept returns on panties, or swim suits. It depends on their Health Code.

Let's hope she tried them on over her own panties.

I have to say it has never occurred to me to try on panties. I usually buy one and try it out -- wearing and washing -- and if they're satisfactory, I'll go buy more.

Oh wow...this whole thing is just so wrong on so many levels. {#emotions_dlg.blink} I honestly had never thought about individual panties perhaps having been tried on! Guess I'm just gonna stick with my Hanes packaged 6-packs. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

No one should have to try on panties....you just go by your pant size. If you wear a 6 then you wear the same in a panty. Not rocket science. I do size up to allow for shrinkage as I use a hot dryer after washing.
