O/T - QVC is now a premium channel

I have to pay an additional charge now to get QVC with my cable company. Won't be doing this - but I'll miss the Q.

You can watch live stream online.

Huh. That would break me of spending habits. Although honestly I don't watch much. It's that darn TSV e:mail that gets me into trouble. And I enjoy these boards, but get tempted by them!

This happened to me with HSN, I hoping the Q is not next. Something tells me it coming {#emotions_dlg.mad}

What cable companies are those? You shouldn't have to pay to buy things! {#emotions_dlg.angry}

That is what happened to Shop NBC with Time Warner Cable. I hope it doesn't happen with QVC!!!

Wondering about that myself!! It's a SHOPPING CHANNEL...ONE LONG COMMERCIAL!...One should NOT have to pay extra for that!

Wow. Never thought about shopping channels being premium channels. I just flip by these shopping channels so I definitely wouldn't be paying top dollar to have them.

Let me know if you suddenly become interesting.

Well I would probably do the same thing. I would miss it

but hey money is money.

Ridiculous. The cable companies are one big pain in the you know what... For a hundred bucks a month they offer a zillion stations and there's rarely anything worth seeing on any of them... I remember when cable was going to get rid of commercials... Yea, right... Besides, given the usual programming here on QVC, if there was ever so not premium television, this most assuredly would be it...

All shopping channels are part of the basic line up on DirecTV {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Is it the HD channel for the Q going premium for you, or both broadcast stations? My cable company carries 2 signals for QVC and 2 signals for HSN, one standard def and one HD each. They only carry ShopNBC in standard def.

Frustrating for sure -- same thing happened here with my cable company. I lived without the premium channels for 2 weeks, but then I couldn't take it anymore! LOL. I don't actually really 'watch' QVC, but usually have it on for background noise while getting dressed and cooking dinner, etc., so my routines felt all out of whack. That's sad to admit!

I hate cable and that's why have been with Directv for 7 years now! Never have a problem and get all the shopping channels among many others! I would check into Directv!

I have AT&T U-Verse (not cable), and I get all four major shopping channels included in the U-200 tier, which is the most popular tier, I think.

My husband would be thrilled if that happened here. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} Truthfully, I don't watch it as much as I used to and usually order online if I really need something. How many kitchen gadgets can one have? I would not pay extra to get it since it is possible to watch online anyway.

I also have Charter. According to the Rep I spoke with they are slowly converting all the channels to digital. Which means you'd have to get the digital box for all TV's in the home with cable.

Get a 50.00 Roku box, I got 4, all shopping channels FREE... I pay 8 a month for HULUPLUS and unplugged directv and never looked back. Not for everybody , but, for us contemplating Social Security an afforable option.

Although I don't watch the Q or HSN as much as I used to, I still have cable that offers both in regular cable and that of HD. I don't think mine is changing and if it does, the Q and HSN can kiss alot of customers GOODBYE.

I love to laugh and dance......

Curious -- what cable company do you have? That is ridiculous that a shopping station is premium. I bet the Q is not happy about that.

You are right - I can stream online - just too much trouble at times. I'll probably just do my shopping somewhere else.

When I had to cut back on my cable bill....service electric....I lost ShopNBC.....I still have HSN and QVC.....I don't watch either of them much....but I like knowing they are there when I want to......I know I would not watch either of them Live on my computer....It would be too confining....

ITA. We gave up cable when they didn't get it back on for months after Katrina. DirecTV is sooo much better, and the shopping channels are part of the basics as Alpha said.

Maybe it's time for a change!!

We have DISH & don't pay extra for the shopping channels in the package we have. When they start charging extra for them they can keep them because I would not pay extra for any shopping channel. I don't watch any of them really. I channel surf & will flip over to see what's on but as far as sitting & watching I don't do that. Looks like there are 10-11 shopping channels.
