Thank goodness! I never liked the look of dresses or skirts with bare legs. Yuck. One exception is with sundresses, of course. I understand why some would prefer the comfort factor of having bare legs, but I never minded wearing pantyhose myself. Besides, I hate the feeling of bare feet in closed shoes. Icky.

Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. ~ Henry James

I think her legs look fabulous in these pictures. Of course, they probably don't look as shimmery without the flash photography, but the shimmer looks nice, too. I'm so glad that I won't feel like some old, out-of-style hag wearing my pantyhose anymore. I never gave them up!

Every time I look at the two of them I think how proud Diana would be, both of her son and the woman he married. They seem happy together, they represent their country with great dignity. It helps that she's gorgeous too! I'm sure Diana is looking down and smiling!

I don't think the fact that Kate is wearing them means they are making a comeback. I thought I read somewhere (and sure it is true) but it said that the royals are required to wear stockings/hose. Personally I don't care whether or not Kate wears them or whether they are in or out. If I am at work, I wear them. If I am going to a funeral, a formal event, etc., I will wear them -- fashionable or not. If I am going to a pool party or going out for a casual evening, wearing strappy sandals, etc., you won't find me wearing anything on my legs. I honestly do not understand the controversy over this issue. Do what you want and what makes you happy.

I'm glad they're back in fashion. Going bare-legged, especially in winter, didn't flatter most. imo

I'm relieved - I've actually completely avoided dresses because I prefer to wear pantyhose, now maybe I can wear one once in a while.

What I find interesting about the pictures is that Kate's legs look the same color as her arms and face (at least on my computer). What brand of hosiery does she wear? I have never found any that look that sheer. To me, it looks like she has applied something to her legs to give me a glow.

Hose in the summer, no way for me. But I understand it for those who want more coverage on their legs. Winter, I never had a problem with wearing hosiery, so I wouldn't mind if they made a comeback.

PS~Kate is beautiful, but boy is she thin!

Well, if they weren't already making a comeback, they will be now that Kate has been spotted in them, because anything she wears becomes hot immediately. I want to know if they rot in their packages, because I have a drawer full of unopened ones from the 1990s? I, for one, will be happy to see them return, because in the climate I live in, my arms tan just from walking around town, but my legs stay pale... not a good look for wearing dresses. The only negative is that I'm already having flashbacks of the days when I had several pair of hose in my desk drawer for those days when I would snag a pair and have to go change them midday... that was a pain.

You just brought back a bad memory. I used to carry clear nail polish in my purse to stop a snag before it became a run.

Oh, good gravy! That might just be the worst fashion faux pas ever and I'm guilty of it {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

I believe they lose their elasticity. I had quite a stash that I recently got rid of.

I don't think it's a fashion faux pas at all if it's in a place where it can't be seen. I still have a bottle of clear polish at work for just those reasons. Just last week I went to the ladies room, was in a rush and pushed a nail through the top. A little polish got me and my hose through the dayWink

Remember the short ones and the knee high ones so it looked like you had them on with slacks? I know some wore the knee high ones with dresses if the dresses were long enough. Or how about the ones you wore with a girdle?????? Just aged myself there!!!

My grandma thought those knee high ones were the best invention since sliced bread because she always had the nylons that had to be clipped to your girdle or garter belt, so she wore the knee highs around the house with her dresses. This worked fine, until she sat down {#emotions_dlg.ohmy} Bless her soul... we loved her for so many reasons, but her fashion sense wasn't one of them.

I like the sheer, nude, shiny support hose look........and think of how energizing they are! (I'm serious)

What's wrong with knee-highs? I would never wear them with dresses, but I wear them all the time with my dress pants. I refuse to wear shoes without some type of covering on my feet. If that dates me then so be it.

Nothing is wrong with knee highs under pants. I was joking that my grandma wore them under her dresses, but when she sat down they looked very silly. My mom favors those peds and wears them with everything, sandals, slippers.. you name it.. another look that isn't going to make it to this month's In Style magazine, but she's 88 years old and it works for her.

As long as there is corporate america pantyhose will be around. I have girlfriends that work in the banking industry and no way would they be caught in open toes and bare legs even in the summer.

I wear pantyhose in the fall/winter. Usually black or off black when I wear a black or grey skirt suit. I like Hanes. But mostly opt for tights. JC Penney has really good ones with control top for 10.00.

Oh, and I also still use clear and black polish to stop the runs.

Legs have to look perfect to go bare.

So true... You can find some people with the ugliest

legs running around with naked legs in settings that call

for covered legs.... (i.e.,) Professional work place, Weddings,

Formal affairs.... etc.,.

They look just as bad as those who wear sandals (on a hot

Summer's day) On feet that have more cracks & dirt than

the sidewalk...

Kate is a beautiful, fashionable, well-dressed young woman -- and like almost every other woman, she looks much more finished and elegant wearing hosiery with dressy dresses. Many of us have known this all along and have never gone along with the bare-legged madness. Who needs "permission" from the fashion gods to do something that looks so much better anyway? Why wait for a celebrity to lead the way? Hooray for hosiery!

Kate is very beautiful & its great to see such a young lady wearing a sophisticated accessory. I can remember growing up and seeing the ladies in my old neighborhood wearing the ones with the black seam that ran up the back of their legs....now I thought those were HOT!!!
