Problems with my laptop

I recently had a new hard drive installed on my hp laptop. It was 4 years old and was showing signs of slowing down and thought it could be a virus.So took it to an IT guy for him to check it. While I was there he asked what the problem was, so I explained , and he told me it sounded like a virus. Then later he tells it was my hard drive. Well got it back and there is nothing left in it. I knew when a hard drive is installed you basically loose everything. But can anyone tell me where I can find my task bar with tools, internet options, etc.? I have internet explorer for my browser. Not without knowing which operating system is on the computer. If you can't find it, you should take it back to the IT guy and have him show you.

I can only guess since you haven't provided quite enough detail. Try right-clicking a blank spot in the upper area of your browser window. In the menu that opens, (left) click on where it says Menu bar.
