How in the world do you get rid of this extremely annoying malware (or whatever it is). I tried to disable it & it wouldn't. I do have Malwarebytes (paid version) & that doesn't keep it off. So, can anyone suggest a solution? This "thing" drives me crazy!

The top link uses Malwarebytes. I use Hitman as a daily paid scanner.

One you remove you have to be sure to look for the source. It might be a link you are going to regularly. Think about new links around the time you first found EXEchecker. Removing doesn't prevent re-installing. Also Ad Aware by LavaSoft is another malware/anti virus that does an exceptional job blocking.

Txblond!!! Nice to see you again! Yellowrose and I were wondering where you'd wandered off to a few weeks ago.

As to your malware issue, God help you! This is one of those annoying ones. You've got to find it and eliminate it everywhere it lurks and it can lurk pretty much anywhere. There's a real good chance it hitchhiked in on some other software and is still hiding there waiting to launch itself all over again. It's a fixable issue, but it's not an easily fixed issue. Be persistent, follow the trail and eventually you should be able to run it to ground. There are lots of sites with precise step-by-step directions on how to get rid of it. Try one, if it works, great, if not, try something else. Lots and lots of people have the same issue, so you're not alone. Google is your friend, just don't believe anything that says it'll remove it in one click. This is one of those annoying buggers you have to root out file by file. Good luck!

Thank You. I corrected the links. I have not used LavaSoft for quite a while. I get the source of the problem by checking my firewall software. All these nasty little programs have to get to the web.

I found http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ to be very helpful site when fighting malware.

To prove a point to a customer I ran my PC for several months without any anti virus or malware security at all. Not a single virus or malware infection. My point was common sense and using a routers firewall correctly make all the difference in the world. I then did a dmz on their router and PC for a week and got 2 or 3 adware infections. I was showing them that getting infected is harder than getting rid of them.
