Apply products don't "just work"

I'm so frustrated right now, I could scream. I can't get the Apple TV option for any of my devices. I've checked the settings on all of my devices and Airplay is selected. If I go through the menu on Apple TV, I can play my purchases, I just can't play what is on either of my computers (through iTunes) or my iPad. Does anyone know what else I can try?

I searched for appletv not working and this was one of the hits I got.you could start here

If I have a computer problem I usually enter my problem in the search bar and see what I get and go from there.

Do you really think I don't do my own searches before coming here? If so, think again.

Re: Apply products don't ""just work""

In reality, while Apple products are nice devices and generally well made, the "true believers" in Apple are oftentimes a tick overly enthusiastic in their praise. In the real world, Apple products have pretty much the same issues as any other product. Apple products are made in the same factories, by the same workers, using the same components, as pretty much every other device on the market. Lots of people have lots of issues with Apple products which you can see by scanning the Apple Support Forums.

And speaking of the Apple Support Forums, I found some suggestions there for you to try.

They're pretty adamant about making sure all of your software is up to date with the latest software, so I'm guessing if one device isn't, it will stop everything. I know quite a few people have been hesitant to update to the latest version of the OS due to issues others have reported, so if you've been delaying updating your software, that could be the issue.

Jackthebear was just trying to help. I think you need to apologize. Since you didn't proofread before you posted, how did he know you searched before you posted?

gardenman, I tried everything in your links before posting here. I got the option for Apple TV on my iMac but not my iPad. Arggggg!

edit: It still won't work.

This is going to sound a tad crazy, but if you switch the language on your i-Pad and then switch it back it may restore your missing airplay icon. (If that's the problem.) I found that solution on the Apple Support forums also. There are other suggestions also on this thread if that doesn't work.

Re: Apply products don't ""just work""

Thanks, I'll check it out. I had absolutely no problems before upgrading to OS 8.1 and Yosemite. I have a subscription to Acorn TV and the Acorn app installed on my iPad. I want to be able to watch the shows on my 42 inch TV instead of a 9 inch iPad. BooHiss to Apple. It's getting more like Microsoft every update/upgrade.

Shhh!!! You can't say that around the Apple true believers! (And there are a lot of them around here!) They'll tar and feather you!
