I posted this last week and now I can't find it anywhere. Can a neighbor's Roku use up the DSL signal that about six of us share on our road? She says she gets stuff through Roku just fine even though she also has computer problems like the rest of us.

Can you call your provider and explain the situation, maybe they can require her to get her own equipment or something of the sort

I would like to know too. You each are paying though, right? You aren't talking about sharing wifi. I just want to make sure I'm understanding.
We are the last one on the line and we are paying for fast internet and ours isn't fast at all.
So I would like to know if it makes a difference if everyone on the line is using a lot, would that affect me.
Am I understaning right? If so, that's interesting. Never thought about why mine is slow. I've called them too.

I would start by checking your router to ensure it is working properly and able to give the speeds your Internet company is providing to you. Make sure you have it placed properly in your house for proper wireless reception (if you are using wireless). If the router works properly, and if on wireless the router is placed properly, then slowness can also be caused by the computer. Check your specs and make sure you are using something with current technology and includes specs that handle the workload you are asking from it. If not router or computer, then contact your internet provider amd tell them they are not giving you the service via speed of Internet that you are paying for.I would like to know too. I'll tell you what I did. I threw in the towel after years of frustration with the DSL and went to Hughes Net satellite. Its about $20.00 a month higher, I think, I'm still in the promo period, so I'm not exactly sure. Its been worth it, I've only lost the signal once and that was when the dish filled up during a snow storm. I was dropping constantly with the DSL and it was getting progressively worse. Our provider's tech service was farmed out when the company was sold and they were good techs, but nothing could help this distance problem from the cabinet on the road I was having. My neighbors still have problems and I am the satellite guinea pig for them.

When I called Hughes years ago, the internet usage was limited. Is it still limited?
