First Tablet--Recommend Size, Please?

Hi, All--I need to get a tablet to watch lectures while I sit in bed or on the couch. My laptop is just too heavy on my lap. This purpose is basically all I will use it for and strictly at home. I know there are many here who have gone through this. What size would you recommend? If you would like to include make and model and where to buy it, it would help even more. Thank you so much for your help.

Re: First Tablet--Recommend Size, Please?

I forgot to add--given the limited use, please recommend one on the lower end of the price range. Thank you, again.

I am going to say an iPad Air, or Ipad Air2. You should go to your local wireless store, and take a test drive. They will have the tablets connected to the web.

She said lower end of price range. If all she is going to do is watch lectures, she doesn't need a high dollar IPad.

She does need a quality product that will work. Her lecture may not view well on a $99 tablet running an older version of Android. Apple sells a large selection of product, any of them will do fine. https://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/

The HDX is a very fast high quality product that will run any video. It will work fine. Like I said, if she isn't happy, she can send it back. She will be happy, I guarantee it.

IPads and the Kindle HDX are very comparable items. You can do searches and find that out. She only needs to watch/hear video. There are lots to do that.

No sense spending more than she needs to.

This is absolutely ridiculous. There are lots of options between $99 and iPads. If all she wants it for is video, there is no need to spend Apple dollars. The cheapest iPad you can get new is $299 and you can get other excellent tablets for under $200.

You can get a Kindle Fire HD or HDX at a good price. Even a previous model will work well for video. I have the previous Kindle Fire HDX and watch videos on mine. Samsung Galaxy Tabs are also great and cost less than an iPads. If you choose a lesser-known model, be aware that it might be harder to find a case for it.

I'm fine with video on my 7" tablet, whereas I don't really enjoy watching longer videos on my iPhone 5S. I would recommend 16GB over 8, even though it's a bump up in cost. 8GB fills up fast.

Suggest you go to the CNET website where they do reviews on phones, computers, tablets etc and look at the reviews their staff has written on various Tablets. I just ordered my daughter the Nexus 7 which they highly recommend.
