Any recommendations for free anti-virus protection?

My protection has expired and I would appreciate any help choosing a free anti-virus download. TIA!

You should not have to pay for any anti virus. There are so many great ones that are free. The one that I have used for many years is Avira antivirus. Just google Avira to get the link fir the 2014 free download

I like AVG. It's free for the download. As always, watch where you click and make sure it is the free version.

I also like Malwarebytes and Superantispware. They target what an antivirus doesn't. Both are free.

AVG

Malwarebytes

Superantispyware

If you go to Kim Komando's website (http://www.komando.com/), she has a list of free downloads. I also use Avast (AVG).

If you have Windows 8 you already have free antivirus, Windows Defender, built in.

I agree with those suggesting Avast and wouldn't have Norton if someone paid me. Norton is notorious for not playing nice with others.
