You need to call customer service and not use all caps.

That's half the RAM and half the hard drive capacity.

And only comes in black, the OP wants purple.

The purple is sold out at QVC, and this computer can be custom built at HP. It comes with a discount.

Count your blessings. I got one and it's slow as sin. UGH. Wish I hadn't jumped on it but I needed it for school. If you can, try and wait until they have one with a better processor... I wish I'd paid more attention because now I'm stuck with it and I'm going to be regretting it everytime I'm working on a school project. Good luck... the purple is pretty anyway.

Eliminating programs from the startup group will speed up your computer. I'm not familiar with Windows 8 so you may need to find run/search differently. Go to start and in the search box type msconfig. Open the utility and select the startup tab. Uncheck everything but your security software and touchpad. Reboot, get rid the nag screen by putting a check in the box saying "don't show me this again" and see if the computer runs better.

I ordered my HP 17 1/2 in. Laptop g7 w/ Windows 8 and Microsoft Office, etc. in Purple on March 16. Received it on April 4. Opened the box, installed the battery, turned it on and realized I couldn't type with the keyboard. I immediately called the for life tech. support that came w/ the purchase of the laptop and after 40 min. of troubleshooting he said that the keyboard was defective and to contact HP directly and gave me their tech. support phone number. I immediately dialed the number got a tech. on the line, he gave me a HP ticket reference number and we then together attempted to solve the keyboard problem. Well 45 min. later he admitted that it was a manufacturers malfunction in the keyboard and I would have to send it to them at which time they will pop out the broken keyboard and replacement w/ a new on. But first I would have to be added to their return computer system for the products warranty. I was told that would take 48 hrs. and I would receive an e-mail w/ a phone number to call for further instructions on the return. Three days later I called the number on the e-mail and was told Sorry due to me ordering the HP laptop from QVC and not directly from HP my brand new defective laptop not even used a day was not covered under their warranty and I would have to return it to QVC. I explained that QVC was only the HP vendor and they would not be able to fix the problem. He said to me sorry for the inconvenience is there anything else I can help you with today and Thank You for choosing HP Good Bye....I will never purchase an HP product again. They have no quality control and do not honor their warranties. I returned the laptop to QVC for a full refund....Thought u should be aware of this problem.

I've never had a device that was DOA or otherwise had a problem like you described. If I did, it would be returned. BTW, it is a warranty item not matter which retail store you bought it from.

Is this laptop even offered with a different processor? I wished I bought it the last time it was on the air. I would like a red one for my son for Graduation. Any idea when it might be offered again?
