LG 840G Tracphone and GPS

For those that bought the LG Tracphone that was the TS on HSN a few weeks ago - were you able to find the GPS options that they spoke about and demonstrated on air? I've read the manual that came with the phone and did not see it - also, went through the phone and didn't see it. Can anyone help?

Thank you bajsf - I will try it. Guess I misunderstood - thought it was a separate app - didn't realize it would be using minutes.

Even if it is a separate app, you'll still use minutes.

I shouldn't have said app - I thought there was gps on there - like a regular gps device - that doesn't use minutes.

No, it doesn't work that way. Even if I had a smart phone, I'd still have a dedicated GPS.

you are welcome, I found that answer posted by another person and so glad to help. I am not a cellphone or computer whiz..I had a flipphone..lol I do connect to my home network and can use the browser with no charges, which is nice One of the reasone why I purchesed it was advertised as *voice activated dialing* which I did have on my flip, and am disappointed that it does NOT have it.

Can you believe I still have not received it? More than a week after ordering that TS, I got concerned that it hadn't been received. Went to the website to see that it had not even shipped. Of course it was too late to cancel, although I live-chatted with someone and told them it would be going right back. About another week later, I got email saying it had shipped. It should have gotten here by now but it hasn't.

I've been looking and looking for the gps function on my new LG840G. Glad to find this post. How do I get to 'google' to get to the maps? I can't even do that. Someone mentioned that they can connect to their wi-fi at home . . . I've been able to connect to wi-fi maybe 4 times and I've had my phone for several days.

I bought that phone. My neighbor is picking up my mail & packages right now. I won't be able to check it out until I get back home Weds. I'm in Fl. now on my way back home. Right now I'm using the LG800. It was the TS last year. They have tutorials for that phone here. http://tracfone.deviceanywhere.com/tracfone/home.seam?custId=TFLG840G&locale=en_US

I've connected to my home wifi - but as far as home, I would rather be on my computer or laptop - phone is way to small. After connecting to wifi, just open up the browser and go to google.com - from there I guess you can get to maps - haven't tried it yet. Anyone, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong - I'm not an expert!

I don't understand why anyone would want to use a Tracfone as a GPS. You will be using minutes up your entire trip. If you want a GPS, buy a dedicated GPS.

Trying to use a phone for a GPS is fine if you are in a pinch. For me the screen would be too small & you would have to pull off the road to look at it. We are using our Tom Tom right now. It comes in handy on long trips.

Okay, I did get to google maps finally. But you're right - GPS on the LG might work if you're in a pinch. Otherwise I'll stick to my Garmin.
