Pandigital out of business, cancelling all warranties

QVC still has a couple of Pandigital ereader/tablets on the site. Anyone thinking of ordering one should think twice.

All existing warranties are cancelled, and if you wish to try to make a warranty claim you will need to file it with the liquidator.[/quote]

Wow. There are going to be a lot of upset people.

Sorry about the messy text - the links did not work and I could not edit it. Yes, there are going to be a lot of upset people. I ordered one almost 3 years ago when it was TSV. I tried really hard to use it and like it, but it never lived up to the hype of the presentations.

Oops it was 2 years ago, not 3. Seems like a long time...

Wow, my recent purchase of one got lost in the mail- guess that was a good thing! At least the Q refunded and after reading the reviews I'm glad I opted out for a replacement!.Wait, is the e-reader the "stick like" scanner? That's what got lost.

I purchased a Pandigital tablet when they first came out. After an hour I took it to the post office to return. This was before the Kindle Fire came out.

Have had nothing but problems with the scanner trying to connect to wifi and was wondering if I was going to keep or not. Just went to look for the reviews on it and see it is no longer being sold and reviews were not that good.

I have one of their handheld scanners, but I purchased it several years ago, so it was no longer under warranty. It always worked fine for me. Always sorry to hear about a company going out of business.

I'm not surprised that they went belly-up. I purchased a scanner from QVC 2 years ago. It stopped working during the 1st year. Pan Digital replaced it under warranty last December. My new one worked for a few months. I stored it in my bedroom clothes closet, in it's original box, on a shelf, and when I tried to use it in Oct it didn't work. I called Pan Digital and they told me that if you don't use it all the time, it tends to stop working. I never heard anything so ridiculous. What a waste of money!

I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I bought a small scanner from QVC and I scanned all my pictures and slides. The only thing it would not do was scan older format slides, but I got a scanner for that because it was cheaper to buy a whole new device than take them to to Costco or a photo service. If it fails tomorrow, I have gotten my value in it.

That's odd because in December they're having a brand new photoscanner TSV. I wonder how/why they are manufacturing new products?

I bet that TSV will be cancelled. That was probably planned before they decided to shut down.

I just talked to a Tech Support Department. You can call the Pan Digital number: 800-715-5354 but do not hit the "QVC" option - it will just disconnect you. I chose the "E Reader" option.

I was having a problem downloading a book I purchased from Barnes and Noble to my E Reader. B & N told me to call Pan Digital Tech Support. What I found out from them is that another company (Sun Row?) will continue to make the scanners but not the E Readers. I don't know if they will continue to support those or not, since I don't have one I did not think to ask. The Pan Digital site is down and Tech Support did not know if it would be back up or not. It sounds like you should still be able to access any books you have already loaded to your Reader but may not be able to load any new ones. The B&N Tech tried to do a Factory reset on my Reader and wiped everything off - then told me to have Pan Digital help me do a Firmware Update so I can reload everything. Since there's no Support now that isn't going to happen and at this point I don't know if I'll be able to get back the books I purchased onto this Reader. I do have them on my computer so I should still be able to access them that way.

I can still get on the Internet and use it as a Digital Picture Frame so it's not totally useless. It would have been nice to be notified so you could have planned on purchasing a new Reader during the Holiday specials.

Why is that ridiculous? Depending on the type of battery, some won't hold their charge for long periods of not being used. It's not just pandigitial. Charge your cell phone to max and turn it off for a week, it won't be 100% when you turn it on.

You could just get a good scanner or, better yet, a multi-function printer with a scanner. Both of my printers have scanners. These days you can get a very nice little multi-function (copy, scan, print) for well under $100 - There are nice Canons (great brand) in the $50 range if you shop well.

But shopping channels are probably the last place to look for such things. Plus, these off brands are just seldom a decent choice. Sure, you pay less but then they don't last so ultimately you are paying more in having to replace more often.

I just talked to a Tech Support Department at Pan Digital number: 800-715-5354 spoke with Jerermy. I informed him that I did not received my replcement tablet. His response to met was " yes, I saw that you did speak to someone last week and I don;t know why they told you to call back. Boiling{#emotions_dlg.angry} His basicallys said, we don't have any more tablets, there is no one you can talk to the company is gone out of business, so your lost. Of course, I am not happy about. I sugguest if you have a product and you have to contuinually return it as I did, just get you money back before the warranty runs out.

Did you buy your Pandigital from QVC? If you did and you are a good customer, they may be willing to help you out in this situation. You could make notes about all the problems you have had. Ask for a superviser when you call. Might be worth a try!
