Does Hoisin Sauce need to be refrigerated after opening?

I am making Chinese spareribs using hoisin sauce (a first for me with this sauce). I do not see anywhere on the jar where it says it needs to be refrigerated. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Don't know how this ended up in "Coffee Talk", I will repost in Kitchen & Food Talk.

Re: Does Hoisin Sauce need to be refrigerated after opening?

I just went down to my kitchen to check mine and found, to my surprise, that I don't have any right now. So, I don't recall if it said to refrigerate.

But, I always DID. It won't hurt to refrigerate it, but it could hurt not to. That's the way I look at it, anyway, FWIW. Smiley Happy

not sure either, surprised it doesn't say on the jar - but usually that means you don't have to.

when in doubt, you won't hurt it if you put it in the fridge - I would.
