Why Vue if you already Keurig?

Started 1336326297.18 in Coffee Talk | Last reply 1343634862.74 by weezie1940

We're such a disposable society and quick to upgrade. I'm just curious as to others opinions regarding the new "Vue." I just recently purchased my Keurig after hesistating over the past year. Very pleased, but even if I hadn't recently taken on the expense of the Keurig, I still wouldn't understand jumping to the Vue. For those who are, are you disposing of your Keurig or just adding the Vue to your collection? I should add, I'm a person who loves coffee. So I understand investing in a good coffee maker.

i jumped on the keurig bandwagon when it first came out...the honeymoon is over...i got tired of the expensive and hard to dispose of kcups...and it wasn't worth it anymore...went back to brewing and instant coffee...cannot justify giving more money to a company that will invariably change things up again in a year or too to milk even more money out of the public...and i love coffee, too!

Love my older keurig. Hope they don't stop making k-cups. :) cb

I just found out while shopping at Target yesterday that you can't use the same K cups, for the Vue as the other Keurig's. The Vue has a different designed coffee package.

I was thinking the exact same thing! I haven't seen any of the Vue cups when I've been out shopping. I hope they don't start replacing the K cups with them! I've had my Keurig for 2 yrs now and I love it.

I have a MyK cup but I found the ekobrew cups and they are wonderful in the Keurig. You don't have to remove anything from the machine itself and it is 1 piece. I almost never brew a pot of coffee anymore.

I LOVE coffee and the Keurig makes everything better.

I think that the patent is up on the Keurig this year or something, and I have a feeling that's one of the best reasons that they're coming out with the Vue. They want the exclusivity of the new brewing machine and the type pods that they use. I, too, hope that they continue selling the pods for a long time. Having said that....I'm guessing that my next machine will be the Vue, if they stand behind these machines as well as they have my Keurig. I love my Keurig...even though I spend a truck load of money each month on K-cups...I wouldn't be without one or it's newer model.

I am a coffee lover too and especially after just buying the Platinum 70 plus. The coffee is just right every time and I love the ease of it. There is no way I'd go to the Vue. I don't see where the Vue is an improvement over the kcups. So I'll gladly stick with what I have. JMHO.

I love my Keurig and would never consider "dumping" it for the Vue when it does the same thing...what's the point??? K

If you tried the coffee from the VUE at its various settings you would be in a better position to see where the improvements are and if you think they improve your coffee drink experience or not. Listening to other opinions is really not the best way to evaluate anything that has taste.

The point is that it really does NOT do the same thing other than brew coffee. The brewing temperature and the strength adjustment as well as the latte type drinks sets it apart from previous machines.

I saw part of the infomercial for this latest Keurig machine. They emphasized that the coffee could be made stronger and hotter - the two things I seem to hear people griping about with their Keurigs. It still doesn't interest me. AND it was something like $250 or something. WAY too much for a coffee maker!

One good thing about the Vue is that the k-cups can be recycled. I don't think most people would want to dispose of an old Keurig they're happy with for the new one, but many people buy replacments for worn out units or are buying for the first time. I have a single serve Cuisinart that uses k-cups and I would never get rid of it for a new model unless I wasn't happy with it (which I am). It's a nice strong brew and very hot. I also use a drip machine, but prefer the Keurig. Now, when my Cuisinart stops working, I'll either get a new one or consider the new Keurig. It's nice to have choices. One reason I went with Cuisinart was the three year warranty compared to one year with Keurig. I have been hearing that Keurig has good customer service though, even when the year is up.

That is your opinion but most of us here paid at least that much for our platinum machine when it came out years ago and many of us still really like the convenience of it. It is a bit much, but it is all relative to how you will use it.

Tried the taste and too me not a big difference as well as the temp. if you test them it is not brewing the temp it should. Still has some kinks in my opinion from testing and trying it out.

What a nightmare for the grocery stores, now they have to find shelf space for yet another coffeemaker fad of cups. When will it end?

How else will the Keurig folks stay in business if they're not constantly coming out with a different one?

IMO, its about time they came out with a machine whose cups can be recycled. Our landfills are full of K-cups. They will never biodegrade- so sad for our environmment. I may get a Keurig now that the the cups are recycleable... but I still love my electric percolator. Coffee is awesome, hot and cheap!

I LOVE my platinum Keurig. I reuse my kcups...I get about 27 to 28 cups of coffee (by filling them with my own) before the filter rips. I wasn't interested in the VUE when I saw what the prices were going to be for their version of kcups. I was hoping that Keurig would upgrade to one that I saw demonstrated at Williams Sonoma...it actually steamed real coffee....and added it to coffee that was made with the cup.

I had 2 Keurig's stop working, Keurig sent me a replacement at no charge for one. The other I had for over 2 years and thought about the Vue, but decided to save $$ and go back to using my old coffee pot.

LOVE my Keurig but have to admit that I was intrigued when I saw the new VUE coffees and then disappointed when I found out that you need another machine to use them. {#emotions_dlg.crying} Question: If they can make the VUE cups recyclable, why can't they make the K-cups recyclable??

well from the site it looks like the keurig people are trying to be more "green" and that is fine but the keurig B whatever system is like 99.99 or so like 100.00 USD or where ever your from. But yeah I would buy the Vue it looks more "Better then all the rest of the Keurig Systems"

Yeah and someone wanted to know the price of the keurig it's like 8.00 a box!

What a rip off.

I would just do i the old fashioned way if I was tight on money.

I've had my Keurig for 2.5 years & I love it. If/when it wears out I would consider the Vue (and others) but what I have works great.

I have never spent a penny on K-Cups. Being able to use my own coffee is important to me. I would never consider a coffeemaker that does not give me that option.
