Keurig vs. Keurig Vue

Started 1333325667.77 in Coffee Talk | Last reply 1333997648.413 by 4uthebest

How is the Vue different? I haven't seen one in action. I know it takes different k-cups {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}, but how else is it different?

Thanks!

You can adjust the water temp and the strength of the brew. You can also make latte and cappucino brews in it as well. The cups are recyclable. It's pricey though. Doubt I'll purchase one any time in the near future. I'm quite content with my current Keurig.

Enjoying my retirement 1 cup of coffee at a time.

I really don't have a desire to purchase this either, my current model meets all of mine and my hubby's needs.

It makes stronger coffee, and that's a plus for me. Also they have travel cup sizes which means only one cup as opposed to 2. I've had my B70 for 4 1/2 years, and when it goes, I'll definately get one. I'm sure there will be a my kcup type of thing come along also, and I'll get one of those too. Ekobrew and solofil are probably already working on one as well.

I've watched several you tube videos and think tea might be great. The pulsing sounds a little weird, but I think the stopping and going helps saturate the coffee/tea and that's why it makes a stronger cup. Not impressed with the cafe' coffees, and not sure about the cocoa. I'll try that once.

Cheese with that whine?

I've also heard that the vue cups are more expensive than the regular k-cups, but I haven't confirmed that myself.

Yes more expensive and less in a box also having to use two to make a cafe drink and only 8 drinks per box on those. Also the machine is noisy. Really wanted to love it and get right away but not after seeing the prices on the coffee and the noise of the machine.

How long did it take for you to receive and as far as noise, is it on all the brews or just certain such as the dual vue cup preparations ?

Did the BB&B manager do a brew on all the cycles and product types and if so, were there any of them that simply were not as loud as another or were the all the same loudness ?

No all I needed to hear was one, and the fact there were only small boxes and not much variety I knew at this time it was not for me. Smaller boxes more money and right now only 8 cafe drinks to a box. Like I said before thought for sure I was going to get it the minute it came out. Hey I must love the keurig I am on number 5 platinum and before that had two other models

Was the one you heard a dual cup process as I do not think I would ever purchase that as I do not drink those type of drinks and I was just drawn to both the stronger brew and hotter temps?

Several times I was almost ready to have my K sent in for replacement, but I was able to fix my own except for the very first one which had a bad pump from the beginning. I never use anything but distilled reverse osmosis water and thus I almost never have anything to descale and if there is a clog that seems to have stopped the brewing process, I clear all the holes, turn off and then restart the machine and that has worked for me and my single platinum is now going on 4 yrs old this fall.

You might want to check out some of the reviews on the Vue on Amazon

I'll be looking for reviews when I'm ready to buy one. Probably anywhere but Amazon. There's so many BS reviews on that site, I wouldn't trust any of them.

Does anyone know if the Vue has a my-kcup? Sometimes Ilike to use my own grounds.

At this time it does NOT.

Debc you are pretty much singing my song except for the Amazon verified ones when you can find them. That being said however, both the southern and this channel also really allow too many invalid reviews to be posted.

My Keurig does all I need it to do. I don't need any of the things the Vue offers.

I would much rather weed through some reviews than to just take the word of the manufacturer. Already with checking on a few sites there are issues with how hot the coffee really is and with the tank stating empty when it is not. I am not ready to jump in and upgrade yet until I see more reviews and if I do, BBB return policy is sounding pretty good. Wish I would have got my platinum there.

I have the orginal & it's loud & do use my ground coffee plus do buy k-cups for DH. Water temp should be hotter for me. I am not in a rush especially for $249 for it. I'll wait it out, by end of yr. maybe price will go down & also get it from Khols or BB&B with coupons too.

If I ever want the water to be hotter, all I do is preheat the cup with 6-12 oz (depending on cup size I am using) or so of brewed water and it will be so hot that I cannot drink it immediately and this is with the Platinum machine, Or I can use my Cuisinart and it will be hotter as well.

In reality though since I use a gourmet freshly roasted healthy coffee, I am perfectly pleased with the fabulous results I get with the Solofill and my current K machines.

The trouble with the Amazon ones is that you never know which ones are real or not. Even a good review might be from a 'shill'. And then you have the people who just like to give reviews at random. I know someone who is a vine reviewer that doesn't own a thing she reviews but posts like she purchased them elsewhere. Probably why I'm cynical, if there's one, there's more. Personally to review something on a site, you should have to buy it from that site. The reviews on Q aren't much better. I often wonder if I have the same thing as some reviewers.

My Platimum is just fine. And I was told that the patent may have run out on the original design SO Keurig had to do something to keep ahead of the game. I suspect there might be some healthy competition on the horizon. Just a guess. I just hope the original cups are still available and the prices drop.

I am in now in the retail coffee business and it is doubtful that in the near future the cost of coffee will do anything but rise and this of course translates into the K Cups and VUE. If coffee supply becomes more abundant, it will be still a guess whether the speculators will lower the prices.
