Coffee Talk

New to me is Hamilton Beach The Scoop one-cup coffee maker that uses your own coffee, no pod or K-cup.

Started 1319380081.61 in Coffee Talk | Last reply 1330457861.357 by pickysue

Saw it in today's Target circular. Does anyone own it?

Appeals to me because I could return to my beloved Dunkin' Donuts coffee. For a few months, I've been using HB's Personal Cup which uses pods and is most satisfactory. Before that, I used my tried-and-true, dependable, 20 year old Mr. Coffee and DD coffee. Now I'm kind of spoiled, though, to the one-cup routine as I'm not a huge coffee drinker.

Just thought I'd ask for reviews if anyone owns The Scoop.

TIA.

I googled the model

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?sku=18223562&rn=861

so far out of 7 reviews it is a 4.9 at bed bath and beyond. During the week I only brew enough for a travel mug, but on weekends I make more. This looks like it could be perfect for my use. Need to do more research on the size of it, not that much counter space. But definitely on my Dear Santa wish list for now.

i don't have a review. i just saw last weekend a pic of this in my target ad. i thought this would be great for those who didn't want to purchase k-cups, etc. i liked the modern, streamlined look of it.

I saw that one, too, but that's not the one I was talking about in thread title. I think that one uses pods only -- the one-cup part of it on the left-hand side.

This is the one I was talking about which uses your own coffee --

I've not seen this one, I have been shopping for the single serve but I would like to use my own coffee. Thanks for the information.

You may already knows this.....Dunkin Donuts has just offered its coffee in Dunkin Donuts K-cups. I love my Dunkin Donuts coffee too!

I saw this at Target the other day and I think it's a great idea. If we didn't already have the keurig, would definitely try. Love my Keurig, but they are discontinuing my favorite, Timothy's Italian. Have to find a replacement soon.

Yeah, I know. If only they'd make the pods for use in what I currently have. Otherwise, I'll try The Scoop so I can go back to my normal DD.

I looked at this model. It seems nice. I didn't purchase it though as I already have a coffee system. Maybe someone will receive one for Christmas and then review it. I'd be interested in knowing the taste, strength, flavor ... what they thought overall.

I am eyeing this one too. Love my Emeril's Big Bold Easy Kcups......... but the cost savings if I can find a nice robust blend would be worthnit.

does anyone know if these are stainless steel where the water goes ,or aluminum ,or plastic? I LOVE the idea of the one with the choice of a full pot or single serve.

Does Emeril's coffee come in pound (or whatever quantity they are now) bags?

Or maybe return to whatever you were drinking before K-cups.

Since you use your own bagged coffee in it, you determine the strength by how much coffee you put in.

Which machine makes either one cup or a whole pot. That sounds great.

Hi everyone. I just bought the Hamilton Beach "Scoop" last week and I like it a lot.

I found it on sale at Target for $59.99, from $70. It is easy to use: just use the scoop and your own favorite coffee to make an 8 oz to a 14 oz cup. As with the Keurig, the coffee isn't overly hot, as brewing time is less than 2 minutes but the result is more fully flavored than the Keurig as the water saturation is better. The only clean up is a quick washing of the scoop and the filter underneath it -simple.

Last year I tried the Keurig as the QVC TSV and and returned it; too big, too expensive, ineffective and I didnt think the coffees were especially good. I am much more pleased with the HB Scoop. (I believe the Dunkin Donut coffee is sold at Walmart superstores and Sam's).

thanks for posting this. now i know a couple of people who would prefer this over the k-cup variety machines. i can now cross off a couple of gifts off my list.

Assume you meant GMA. Just ordered one. I have a mini single serve keurig in cupboard gathering dust. I got tired of having to buy a whole box to try a coffee brand. Guess I'll donate it to charity.

It sold out, and I see several here bought it, so I'm looking forward to hearing the reviews!!!

i've been looking at that one for a couple of months, but didn't want to pay $59 or more for it. I think $35 is kinda steep for a drip maker, but I caved anyway when I saw it on GMA. It took a while to get through on the site to get the deal. I'm excited to get this! I've wanted a Keurig forever, but just don't have the money to justify one of those. I had been looking at an inexpensive Hamilton beach brewer that uses pods, but then I read that they are going to discontinue making the pods early next year. Plus I want to save money, so I don't want to mess with pods anyway.

I really hope this thing works. I love my coffee, but I always seem to waste a cup or two at the bottom of my pot. Hoping this will save me money in the long run, especially when I want to make just one cup of decaf in the evening. :)
