Hasn't he been on QVC before? Seems vaguely familiar ...

I read his work was featured in the December issue of Vogue Paris. He was also somehow involved with the Native American jewelry dept. at the Smithsonian. Can't wait to see what he brings to a home shopping network.

i think I got one of his pieces many years ago from the Q. It was a teardrop shaped pendant, textured silver with gold accent, with a corn symbol, and 3 small gemstones - lapis, turquoise and coral. I'm not positive that it's his piece, but I think it might be.

I did some digging, appears he has been featured on QVC before. J00107 is just one example of many selections they have not purged from the archives yet.

I was mistaken. My piece was by Andrew Redhorse. One of the companion pieces (which I don't have) is J00111.

A couple other Kenneth Johnson pieces that were on the Q include: J00109, J00108. Now I wish I'd gotten some of his pieces when I'd had the chance before. I think I was being a responsible shopper back then.

Those pieces are incredible ladies - thanks for sharing and OMG - J00111 - that piece by Andrew Redhorse is selling on Ebay for $768.50 - where was I at that time?? Really missed out - those that have any of those pieces are sooooo lucky!!

I've seen that with other designers. It just tells me that ebay is insane.

I remember well when Kenneth Johnson's designs were part of the Southwestern Jewelry shows on QVC. I own two of his pieces in orange spiny oyster; the cross and the matching line bracelet. They both have large rectangular cabs of oj spiny and lots of silver work.

Check your pieces from back then; you might find you have some of his pieces and don't know it. His hallmark is a "WJ" alongside "925." I realized this myself from the description of the cross when it was featured on ebay sometime last year.

Like many of you, I only wish I had bought more pieces from the native designers that brought their work to QVC back in the day, and at very reasonable prices. I could be wrong, but I think CP might have had some of them designing for her company when she first came to QVC, and those are some of the pieces she brought to the Q.

No wonder we loved the first stuff she brought to QVC! Some of the pieces that were in the Southwestern Jewelry line-up were done by native designers, but it wasn't made known necessarily who the designer was. IOW, the emphasis was on the design, not the designer. But eventually CP began to bring the native designers on and they would show their work and describe the inspiration, material used, and tell about themselves.

If only we could go back in time!{#emotions_dlg.sleep}

Wow - Cloud thanks for the info -- have some pieces by WJ - didn't realize those were Kenneth Johnson also --you are right about the Native Designers - what she did in the early days was "present" their jewelry - they weren't part of the Relios family but obviously working in partnership --I acquired a bunch of Carol Felley pieces from those days - her jewelry is wonderful also --so wish I had seen that Andrew Redhorse bracelet- wowzers!! Anyhow - can't wait for the show!!

I wish Carolyn would brink the Dina Huntinghorse pieces back.

I wonder who owns the design, once CP takes on the production. I think we'd be happy if CP just made more of the old pieces.

I'm not sure any of the early designers pieces will ever be "brought back." All of those designers went out on their own or were designers in their own right, and only did a few specific pieces for CP to bring to the Q. They were mass-produced and when the quantity was sold, that was it. I think it was a short-time exposure for the artists through the QVC Southwestern Jewelry shows. If truth be told, they probably didn't want the ties to QVC they would have had to make, to continue bringing their work to the Q. The pieces that were in contract with CP were subject to her contract with QVC. For what it's worth, that's MHO.

Your HO is right on Cloud - Speaking of Dina Huntinghorse Ennui - I recently acquired "My little Pony" - such a cute piece - hard to get any of hers one can afford - also Victoria Adams - love her pieces and have managed to acquire some really nice ones!!

Glad to hear Jody is bringing a bsracelet to match the Indian Fair necklace we purchased last time!!

Andrew Rodriguez is another native american designer that did some pieces for CP. (I got his owl fetish earrings and they were so heavy I converted them to a necklace and a pair of earrings by using the Pink Opal Lariat necklace. The pink opals as earrings go with the Veranda enhancer, and the AR red jasper dangle bead earrings (sans the owl fetishes) go with my R.T. Red Jasper pendant. The lariat necklace with the owl fetish dangles is great to wear with all-silver. And I got a second Pink Opal lariat necklace, so the pink opal earrings are a nice set worn with the necklace.)

It appears that the native designers featured on the Relios website aren't designing any new pieces for CP. I think they contract for a limited number of pieces and that's it. Especially since some of them are so well-known and so successful in their own venues.

cl, I know you got that newer dragonfly pendant by Victoria Adams that was sold sometime last year. That piece sold out and is virtually non-existant. I did see it on ebay for an exhorbitant amount and it sold!

That says to me, there is a very limited number of some of the designer's pieces and once they sell out, they are no longer in QVC's or CP's inventory. That dragonfly pendant was a great piece to snag! It looked more like an angel to me.Smile

Thanks for posting the pic, juggie. {#emotions_dlg.tt1} LOL!

I clicked on the link and it is still available here. I don't know where I got the idea it was sold out and no longer available. I think I read here on the forums it sold out and there was no waitlist availability. I never checked on it since.

IT WAS SOLD OUT - JUST CAME BACK FOR A BIT - THINK THEY HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT AND HOLD BACK A FEW - BUT i AGREE WITH EVERYTHING ELSE YOU SAID - THERE WON'T BE A LOT OF PIECES - IF YOU DON'T GET THEM WHEN YOU CAN - YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT A LONG TIME - THAT BEING SAID i WILL PURCHASE ONE PIECE USING MY ezp OFFER - JUST HOPE i CAN DECIDE WHAT i WANT -

i HAD PURCHASED A BEAUTIFUL SET OF ANDREW RODRIGUEZ'S PIECES ON EBAY SOME TIME AGO - IT'S CALLED 'RUNNING HORSES' AND I GOT THE NECKLACE AND CUFF FOR SUCH A FANTASTIC PRICE - A LADY GOT IT AS A GIFT AND OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T CARE FOR THAT KIND OF JEWELRY OR DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE HAD - IT'S INCREDIBLE AND I LOVE IT1 I THINK THAT'S ALL I HAVE OF HIS -

BY THE WAY - IF YOU CAN SWING IT - GET THAT VICTORIA ADAMS PIECE - IT IS INCREDIBLE - WEEG AND I BOTH GOT IT AND IT IS ONE TO HAVE BELIEVE ME - IT IS PRICEY - WE PAID QUITE A BIT FOR IT -AND WHEN YOU ADD IN S/H& TAX - IT WAS NO BARGAIN BUT I AM STILL GLAD I OWN IT!!

Thanks so much for posting the info on the Victoria Adams piece. I had pre-ordered it, then cancelled it. Tried to order it again and could not get one. I saw Weeg's at CP's party and was even more sad I had cancelled. Even though finances are a little tight (buying too much CP) I had to get it. Can't wait for it to come! Again so glad I am part of the front porch!
