do you think ...what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger?

Or does it make you stronger, to have an easy, supported life? I have had hard times, and good times, but I think I would be stronger, without the hard times. I think the hard times gave me PTSD.

Stress is a killer. Who ever made up that saying was wrong.

I think there is a bit of truth to that statement.

I agree, a bit of truth, but as the OP said, some hard times are just too much.

I don't think anyone is better off to have everything handed to them.

Yes... Many things I never wanted to think about dealing with and have made me stronger.

I have that saying on my computer at work - it is by Fredrick Nietzsche.

What doesn't kill us makes us ......still alive......, stronger in the sense that we know we can make it through some pretty rough stuff and come out of it with much more insight and empathy toward others that have gone through similar things.

I'm still coming to terms with what it did to me. PTSD isn't far off.

Wow funny I saw this thread. I was just talking about this. No I think this statement is total baloney, if it were true I would be the Hulk. I think troubles wear on people, stress is a killer literally, not to mention troubles can really age a person. I also don't believe in the saying that God won't give you more than you can handle. Were that true then why do so many commit suicide? It was obviously more than they could handle! Maybe troubles develop a degree of character but I would be a character without the troubles thank you

All depends upon the hard time or the struggle. Nobody should be handed everything on a silver platter, but this cliche is a generalization that can tend to be dismissive of hardships that most of us will hopefully never have to endure.

It totally depends on your response to the hard times.... All of life CAN make you stronger. Good counseling also really helps. Smiley Happy
