Question about Isomers nutritone machine

Started 1370701009.797 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1370716541.323 by ambersmom

What I would like to know is if you have to use Isomers serum with their machine or other serums. If other serums, what would any of you suggest! TIA

I use it with different serums -- from Isomers, Skinn, and I've even used it with a couple of L'Oreal serums. Others have used it with aloe vera. I have a little spray bottle of water to keep my face damp if I'm using the nutritone for longer periods (serums dry fairly quickly). I have 2 nutritones that i use at the same time so my microcurrent treatment runs about 9 minutes (9 sites on my face, 1 minute per site). I've ordered the new nutritones -- it is a nice little machine and my eyelids are lifted (hooded lids run on both sides of my family).

Mishell5, I cannot answer your question, but would lke to ask you if you have this Nutritone, do you like it? DO you see a difference using it? Would you recommend it?

Thanks! I have the original one. I will try it with the serums you mentioned. I have so many serums already! Adding that spray botle of wate ris what I have to remember to do. Like you said, the serums dry very fast.

I have hooded eyes too.. I am so going to work on those! LOL!

I wish I could answer you question. I JUST decided to take it out of the drawer after many years. I just turned 60 and am dealing with a lot of stress. That is a great motivator along with seeing the presentation again.

After using if for a while I will let you know how it goes!

Isomers Forum has a FAQ for the Nutritone and they have your question in their FAQ:

Q. Can I use any serum product for the conductor?

A. We do not recommend using any other serums other than the Nutritone serums. The Nutritone serum has been specially designed to help transport the micro-current correctly to the treatment area. As we cannot recommend nor comment on serums or gels manufactured by other companies, if you should choose to use other formulations read the ingredient panels carefully to ensure these formulas do not contain: any fragrance; alcohol; colors; witch hazel; mixed fruit acids; alpha hydroxyl; glycolic; salicylic or beta hydroxyl acids; enzymes.

Merrylass - I am unable to watch the presentations this weekend, cuz hubby and I are on vacation. What is different with the "new" Nutritone?

No, we are in Kauai until next Wed. It's 5:08AM here and hubby and I are in our room having some coffee. He is watching the Travel Channel and I'm on my iPad.

I bought the Nutritone years ago, and used it as instructed for several months. I didn't "see" any real changes, so I stopped using it. I used it 3 times a week with the conductive serum.

Lyn,

All I heard was that it is a new and improved microchip.

Hmmmmmm, a new, improved microchip. I wonder what the benefits of that are. Thanks for the info, MrsCat21.

Hi there, Lyn!!...hope you had a great time!!

To you and Mrs Cat....I did not even read a new microchip....on the email I got from Isomers, all it said was the machine was the same but that the color of it had changed.......hhmmm.

The one question I have and the reason I sent mine back years ago was that I did not "feel it". Today's demonstration with the meter shows I was wrong and what got my ears to perk up was when she said the ones that make the harder contractions (FaceMaster, EGG, NuFace) actually LONGTERM do more damage to the muscles causing more sagging......do you or anyone know if this is true???...I have spent the last 20 minutes Googling this query with no results..........

Take care, girl!

Lyn, apologies I was out walking my dogs. The new microchip modulates the current -- a more shallow, dispersed current wave for the eyes, a longer stronger current wave for the jawline (all under 500 micro amps -- ATP production increases as long as the microcurrent is under 500 micro amps. ATP production starts declining when the current goes above 1,000 micro amps).

If you already have the nutritone, I'm not sure that the new nutritone is so different that it warrants a purchase BUT I'm a skin gadget girl so I want to check the difference by using the "old" one on one side and the "new" one on the other side of my face and compare{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Thank you, Merrylass! I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I have an original that I purchased years ago when it launched, but only used it for a few months.

Ambersmom, I have and use various microcurrent, EMS, and TENS machines for different purposes. The study of frequency-specific therapies has evolved since the early 1900's and there are studies that show specific frequencies are effective for different treatments. For instance,

TENS devices deliver milliamp currents and block pain messages. I use a TENS unit for back pain and on the few occasions when I've injured a muscle.

Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS) devices deliver milliamp currents similar to TENS devices but each company/device may have different strengths and pulses. I use EMS devices to fine tune muscles -- I use the Facemaster instead of doing facial exercises and the Flex Belt suite of devices for abs, tush, and arms as adjuncts to my regular exercises.

The key thing to remember with any of these devices is to DRINK enough water to derive the best benefit. If you are dehydrated, the currents are not conducted properly.

Thanks, Merryglass...good advice and makes sense re: the hydration....never thought of that!.

Do you know if the ones mentioned (FM, NuFace and EGG) are above the 500 amps you referred to?? Manuela mentioned this morning that some machines provide too strong a contraction , rendering the treatments harmful long term vs the Nutritone?....I have ALL of em (talk about a junkie!)

Thanks, Ambersmom

Ambersmom - We always have a "me day" when we vacation. One of my treatments was the Grand HydraFacial™. BEST facial ever!!!!!!

Ambersmom, I believe only NuFace has publicly revealed their technical specs. NuFace ranges from 0 - 500 microamps (in the ATP production range) -- and I did confirm by calling Isomers that the Nutritone is also in the 0-500 microamps range. Facemaster and EGG are sold as microcurrent devices which means that they should technically be in the 0 - 8000 microamps (8000 microamps = 8 milliamps) -- both Facemaster and EGG have multiple intensity settings so the lower intensities could well be in the ATP production range -- or above ATP production range at the higher intensities.

Again, each frequency serves different purposes. If you think of ATP production = improvement in soft tissues, then you want the lower microamps (under 500 microamps). The reason I use multiple devices is to target the different signs of aging -- Nutritone helps with firming the soft tissues (skin), the Facemaster works on the facial muscles, and I use massage and topicals (including Retin-A) to keep the skin tight and healthy. Each product has it's role -- it's important to understand what you want to accomplish.

For clarity:

Microcurrent: 0 - 8000 microamps (or 0 - 8 milliamps). ATP production occurs in the 20 - 500 microamps range (or 0.02 - 0.5 milliamps) -- this is the range that rejuvenates soft tissue

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS): 8,000 - 20,000 microamps (8 - 20 milliamps). EMS is used for muscle contractions (think of resistance training)

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): 20,000 - 80,000 microamps (20 - 80 milliamps) stimulates the nerves at the higher amperage (blocks pain) and contracts muscles at the lower amperage. Used in many pain therapies.
