Where to buy the Super-Long Q-Tips Doctors Use?

Started 1364507750.76 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1364612005.86 by Beautybella

I'm looking for those super-long cotton Q-Tips that doctor's offices often have. I have some pricey (mostly perricone) skin care products in pumps -- with pump stems that don't begin to reach the bottom of the product. I store them upside down, and then shake the cream out, but it's a pain in the posterior.

It occured to me that those super-long Q-tips would work really well. Does anyone know where to buy them? I looked in the first-aid aisles of my local Walgreens and CVS but no luck. I also asked a Sephora person and she thought it was a great idea and thought they should sell them. She suggested checking the drug stores I went to -- and no such luck.

Any ideas?

Try calling a pharmacy and inquire of them.

Amazon sells them.

Do you have a medical supply store in your area? eBay has them and so do other online stores. Type in "medical cotton swabs" and your options will come up.

I am so glad I opened this thread. Didn't want to at first. I thought why in the world would you need those long swabs. Now I understand. Phew! Makes sense.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

And they are really inexpensive, and some with free shipping.

A medical supply store usually carries them. Years ago I had a complete makeup and lesson at Trish McEvoy, and her MUA used them for dipping into liquid foundation. I've been using them ever since; keeps my hands cleaner and keeps the foundation in the bottle from contamination.

Here's a better idea - I bought 'several' (many) large boxes of long stick Q-tips from an online medical site as well as those colored protective sheets........easy to find BUT not the answer to your problem.............

I thought the long Q-tips would do exactly what you want them for BUT they are too skinny to pull any volume out (either end =fuzzy end or bare stick). So I now use the long handle end of a Smashbox eyeliner brush. It's stable, thicker and easy to wipe clean after digging lotion, etc. out.

Check your vantiy table for a smooth long handle thin brush .....the Q-s aren't your answer. Been there - tried that!

Hi I have make up spatulas that I ordered from a catalog. You get 3 of them in varying sizes. They are perfect for getting every last drop out of any size bottle. Google make up spatulas and they'll come up.

was a woman on shark tank a bit ago that sold tiny little spatules. She called one spatty daddy - google that. She sells them and they would be perfect - probably more so than the qtip that would absorb some and have cotton on them. Her product was made to get all of the product out of bottles for women!

Try using "cotton tip applicators" as your search term. They are available at Amazon.com but you may find other places by googling it.

This idea looks great! Has anyone tried these? I can think of several household uses for this. I just may order Smile

Thanks deblper. So you used the Spatty Daddy brand that blondgirl spoke of?

They weren't called that but I think several companies make them using different names. I got them through a catalog (can't remember if it was "A Time For Me" etc. One of those women things. Anyway I did google them under makeup spatulas and a bunch of different ones come up. These are little spatulas and 3 different lenght handles and I think the spatula sizes are different too.

Scullychick Go to Makeup Miser.com and they'll come up on the home page with a photo. Makeup Miser is one of the names of them.

Thanks again deblper. That one looks a bit more durable than the "spatty daddy" version.

OMG. I just placed an order. This is a brilliant tool. Sometimes it's the simple things that are the most brilliant, right? I watch Shark Tank frequently but evidently missed that episode. I can't wait to get it -- probably a week since I chose the free shipping option.

Thank you SO much deblper! (And to Blondegirl, too).
