Hi Ladies, Do you know of a good one? I just hate when my lip gloss feathers into the lines above my lip. Your suggestion are appreciated!

Hi AnimalLover -- have you ever tried a 'clear' lipliner? I still have two, one drugstore (so sorry , can't even read the name any more now on mine), and one from Joan Rivers. Hope they're still made by some co. somewhere, because I also like the idea with certain types of lipstick too.

I don't wear lip glosses as much as I used to but the 'clear' liners always did the trick for me -- you can easily put them 'juuuust barely above' (&-or below) the actual lip, just where those pesky lil lines start.

Speaking of JR... she also used to make a great lip gloss, 'the only' kind I ever found that actually *stayed put* ,never-ever crept into those lil lines. No idea if she still makes anything that good... or any cosmetics at all? (seems she's gotten sooo seriously into clothing now).

Trisha McEvoy makes a great nude. So does Smashbox.

Try a clear lip liner. They tend to be more waxy yet smooth. Sally Hansen has one and so does Urban Decay.

I have the clear lip liner by Sally Hansen, and it really does get the job done.

A regular lipliner that does not feather - Estee Lauder Double Wear, and also Urban Decay lipliners. Excellent, and both go on so easily. Naked by UD is a great nude.

I use a clear liner around the outside of my lipline; keeps everything in place all day, even bright colors with gloss.

I bought Paula's Choice clear one, and it works well, but I was delighted when I recently found the E.L.F. clear one recently. It's called the E.L.F. Lip Lock Pencil. It's essentially the same thing as Paula's, but a little wider, yet the price difference was substantial. The E.L.F. one only costs $3.00

MAC make great liners in great light to dark colors. i always, always, cover my lips first with foundation, line and then lipstick and gloss on bottom middle only.

Make Up Forever liners do not bleed at all and I have lines above my lips and this holds the lipstick right into place. It's not very inexpensive but lasts a long time. If you also use it to fill in your lips it is not drying like some liners are.

Just a suggestion.

Mary Kay neutral liner is the best!

I use Buxom's Big and Healthy Lip Sticks. They are lip "crayons" that can be used as full-fledged lipsticks. However, I mostly use mine as a liner or to fill in my lips before applying gloss.

They are wonderful and don't feather one bit. I buy mine at Sephora.

If you're looking for a nude color, I LOVE Sydney ---

i have many high end and drug store lipliners and clear ones too.

hands down, my dior ones are absolutely the best!!!!!!!!!!!

i have candy rose, heather rose, beige something . you do have to sharpen them but they are so superior to my urban decay, too faced, etc.

do you fill in your whole lips with the liner or just outline the lips?

I too have always put foundation on the my lips first and then line. lately as my lips are dry have been using the foundation only on the outside of the my lips where I line. Works ok but again lipsticks seems to be drying them out.

TIA

I'd suggest to stay clear of the clear one by UD. As great of a formula it is, I found the tip went down rather quickly and the wood casings edges would scatch my lips. I have no problems sharpening pencils. This one just had to be sharped SO often to even use it.

Too Faced has a good clear one. Formula's a bit more firmer than UD's. I've not tried it yet but it is on my list! Now I'm adding the Sally Hansen one to my list. Didn't know they made them. I'll be looking into ELF's too! Thanks to the girls here that suggested it.

I've had success with NYX's lip liners [Ulta]. A first ingrediant is wax which is the main ingrediant that prevents any lip product going up into those darn lines!

Another vote for the Buxom ones too! Love them and have quite a few!

I remember going on the hunt for a new liner(s) after my HG was of course, discontinued. None of the marketing is consistent across the board that lip liners are 'anti-feathering'. However, that's when I started looking at the deck ingrediants. If wax was up there, I didn't have a problem trying the pencil. And, they've all worked out well.

Good Luck!

This is a great nude liner that I use with everything. I have no problems with bleeding or feathering. Chanel's 'nude'. It's a pinkish nude and works with literally every color because it matches your own lip color. Pricey but worth it!

Cargo has a great reverse lip liner that goes above the lip and stops feathering.

Stick with the clear.

I have used all brands...spendy and cheap of lipsticks and glosses. All feather.

I like the ELF one best as it is roll-up. No sharpening.

Benefit makes my second fav but it is wooden and needs sharpening. It goes on like a dream tho'.

I have and still do use Make up Forever lipliner. I've found it to be the best at staying on and it's waterproof. 2c is a great nude color.

Shopping girl, I also put some sort of lip balm on my lips while finishing my face so it has time to soak in. That way my lips are soft to line or full in with liner and then lipstick. Hope this helps

I find that any lipliner will bleed when used with lip GLOSS only. My trick is to put on my foundation all over my face AND lips. Then I use Tarte Amazonian clay setting powder or Make-up forever HD powder (the very fine textured white powders) and lightly press it around my lips. Then I line my lips and again very lightly press the powder over the lip liner. Then line again and lightly fill in your lips with the liner. I then use a shade of lipstick that is close to the shade of lipgloss I want to use and apply that. Blot lightly and then put on your gloss in the center of your lips only. I know it is alot of steps, but since doing this, I get the look of gloss but with the staying power of lipstick and no bleeding or feathering into the fine lines. The mix of liner and powder over your foundation really seems to seal those lines up and I have had good luck with this method.

I must have tried dozens of lip liners trying to find one that I could wear with any color lipstick and that would hold the lipstick inside the lines. I finally found Two faced perfect nude lipliner. It is the same color as my lips and it a dryer consistency so it does not feather. I actually have it on reorder at Amazon.com.
