CAN YOU PUT EYE CREAM ON YOUR EYE LIDS?

Started 1360463367.233 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1360765702.947 by smhr

I don't want to end up with crepy eye lids, so I wanted to ask if you can put eye serums, creams right on your lids-

We put everything else on our lids -primers, eye shadows,.... why not this?

I do, although I don't go all the way across the lid, just about halfway after going up around the outer corners. I don't see why not!

I always have, thinking the eyelid needs it too. I may be wrong, however, as I am not a skin care expert. I learn a lot from reading this forum. Thanks for that, ladies.

Call the company that you are using for your eyes and ask them. This way it is safer and you will know. Let us know please.

I never thought about that before, but I do put the eye creams all around my eyes.

An eye cream, yes, I always put those on my lids. I use non-eye moisturizers on my lids too. The only thing I wouldn't put on my lids would be retinol or aha/bha products.

I was watching Suzanne Somers last night on ShopNBC and she was saying how you cannot put any eye creams on lids, but because her's is all natural and organic, that you could. It does seem to me that every time I would read about an eye cream that I used, it would say not to put on eye lids in the directions somewhere.

Sometimes I use argan oil or maracuja oil and other times I use a night moisturizer under the brow in that area and I have not incurred any problems.

I honestly don't know, but I do put my L'oreal Youth Code SPF 30 All Over my face including eyelids and lips. I have not had a problem, and it's not organic. I do this everyday as soon as I get out of the shower.

I read somewhere that eye creams can travel up to an inch so to just put it on your orbital bones. If you're prone to eye irritation I wouldn't do it especially if its not all natural like an oil. I agree with emailing the company and finding out

I do!

Most eye creams seem to be designed for only the under-eye area. However, my eye lids tend to get dry during the winter months. So I dab a little on every once in a while and have never had a problem.

I only do it at night though.

I do. If you notice the "fine print".......it usually says to "pat around the eye orbit", and I take that to mean ALL THE WAY AROUND.

How does one avoid the lids when applying eye cream? Of course apply it to your lids! {#emotions_dlg.glare}

Why wouldn't you? I do, I always have, and my eyelids look great. No crepeyness, no sagging, no problem.

Don't forget the inner corners of your eyes, as well! I put all my treatment things in the inner corners of my eyes (vitamin C, AHAs, retinol), but then just use my eye cream on my upper lid and all around my eye.

I have for many years and never regretted doing it. My skin is dry by nature and have moisturized all over to prevent looking like a prune.

Yes you can. It does depend on the product - some are for use in that area while others are not.

Dr. Denese makes an eye creme for the upper lid and a gel for the lower eye, which I use at night. My daughter, doesn't like the gel and only uses Dr. D's upper lid creme for both day and night.

I am 65 and use (and love) Perricone acyl glutethione for eyelids. My eyelids are so smooth now. Before that I never used creams on the eyelids. When I put the Perricone serum on eyelid I put one drop on pointer finger tip, then blot on other pointer finger tip. Then apply each to an eyelid. That is all I use. I do not wipe it all the way the lashes.

That is a a lie that you cannot put cream on lids! I use Clinique's All About Eyes and I use it all around the eye. If there was an issue with ANY eye cream product, there would be warnings and labels not to place it above the eye..............how silly of her to say that! Sale tactic for her I guess..

Wow - Retin A on your eyelids? I'd be a little nervous....did it ever irritate your eyes? Do you put the Retin A under your eyes where the skin is very thin? I put my Retin A everywhere on my face except the eye area.............
