Skinn...Cotton or Plasma Foundation

Started 1355430203.423 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1355671272.63 by rrgirl

Could you please tell me which you have tried, and the one you like best, and why? Are the two foundations cotton & plasma any different than say, Bare Minerals? Can't use BM, because it settles in lines and wrinkles. Right now, I have combination skin. When it heats up, I'll be oily.

Thank you

Hi Southern Fried Chick......after watching Dimitri for a long time, I finally tried the plasma foundation, and I love it. I have extremely oily skin, and it keeps my skin from being shiny at the end of the day. Bare Minerals doesn't work for me either. Another thought......the Plasma Flawless Finish Powderless Touch-Up Skin Perfector is awesome. It does give your skin a beautiful finish. I think that the BM and the cotton foundation are probably similar. Last month, I purchased his TTV--the plasma foundation with the lipstick palette. Love the red lipstick. I am happy with my purchases, and will get the TTV this weekend. Let me know if you get it.

hey, SFC, Plasma is a very light glide on cream foundation, I am wearing it today. Cotton is a loose powder , totally different. I happen to love them both.

Shellbelle.....I am wearing the plasma today, too. I use the medium. You described the differences very well. I waited a long time before finally trying his products, and I love all of them so far. I also like the orchid gel.

I use Plasma & like it. I have not tried anything else like it. It is kind of a cream & comes in a jar. You are not supposed to need a primer with it - it has primer in it.

The cotton sounds good, too, but I have not tried it. It is different than other mineral makeups. It contains cotton.

How do the colors run? How light is light?

Many thanks for your responses. I may just order both and try them out.

Speaking of Skinn, does anyone know anything about what might be coming up on the shows tomorrow?

Click on any of the Skinn items, then go to the shows tab. You can click on 'browse items' under each show time to see all the items in the shows. HTH

Can't stand the plasma foundation. Does nothing for my skin. I do love the cotton mineral makeup though. I like that Dimitri gives you two colors in your shade because I mix them together and get the perfect shade. Makeup stays on all day.

Rusty523, I like that Dimitri gives you 2 shades to mix, etc. Haven't tried the cotton mineral makeup. Usually, mineral makeup doesn't work for me. What is different about his cotton mineral?

I have both and prefer the cotton mineral myself..good coverage and mixing the shades works well on me. It does stay on all day and stays on well through any type of weather.

I looked thru thru reviews and there were two that commented the light is really more of a medium. The photos on the TSV make the light set look pretty light. But the swatches for the foundation sold separately look more medium.

I prefer Plasma for me because it gives me a smooth airbrushed look & smooth base for blush/bronzer. And my skin feels like silk. It's kind of a creamy powder, if that makes sense. It's Skinn's #1 selling foundation. Cotton is a fine loose powder. I have both. If I am running out the door nowhere special, I brush on some Cotton because it's quicker for me. But for work, appts, etc, I use Plasma. Plasma needs a light application followed by buff, buff, buff. I use both the Light & Medium kits, actually "Light" & "Medium" (the individual Plasma named colors) are my best, I sometimes mix them or use one or the other. When I accumulate too many Cool Buffs or Honey Tans, I pop those colors on Ebay. When applying, make sure you don't get Plasma in your hairline or eyebrows (I saw in the rear view mirror that I had buffed the Plasma into the hairline @ my temples...lol).

Another HUGE rec for your skintype is, as already mentioned, the Plasma Flawless Finish which Dimitri calls "the no-powder powder". It is awesome for finishing & touch ups because adds no color or texture to what you already have on your face. The TTV kit is basically paying for the Flawless Finish & getting the rest free. Smile

I use Plasma in medium and really like the airbrushed finish, esp since I have rosacea and Hyperpigmentation. I'm also no spring chick.

If you go to the Skinn website & click on the Plasma links, there are 6 photos of women depicting the 6 Plasma foundation colors. I can wear either the darker color in the Light kit or the lighter color in the Medium kit. So when I buy a kit with Plasma in it, I alternate Light kit & Medium kit. The Skinn kits are so loaded with good coordinating products, it's always worth it.

I'm 54 - I have dry skin. I tried the plasma - it was a TSV and I got the brush free. The brush was very nice - the plasma itself - I didn't care for - I felt it emphasize a laugh line I had more and I noticed I could see the pores in my skin. I shipped it back.

I think I would like to try the cotton mineral like foundation, but I have to check out the ingredients since I have a few allergies. I really like the Tarte Amazonian clay foundation if I want that type of foundation. For quick running down to the store I just usually use my mineral veil and a blush, mascara and lipstick and out the door I go. My husband doesn't care for a lot of makeup and has mentioned it when seeing other people and TV - I guess some guys are like that.

Has anyone used both the Plasma and the L'Oreal Repair Absolute cream foundation? I'm really loving that one and I'm wondering if the Plasma is even better. It has skincare ingredients in it too such as a form of retinol and hylauronic acide which should keep the skin moist in the winter. The SPF at 16 is twice the Plasma one which is only an 8.

Hi ladies...I am a little confused. Does qvc sell skinn products or are you referring to the skinn website. I recently came across skinn products and just love them! Thanks in advance.
