How do you like Josie Maran's Cleansing Oil?

Started 1355352723.957 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1355957734.073 by gradstudentMom

I got a small sample packet of Josie's Cleansing Oil with a recent Sephora order. I always look up skincare products in Beautypedia and this didn't get a good review because of the potentially irritating grapefruit oil, but I wanted to try it anyway.

I used it once and when I woke up the next morning my skin looked brighter. I didn't expect to see any difference in my skin from using a cleanser since it's on the skin for such a short period of time (plus, I only used it once). My usual cleanser is CeraVe foaming.

My little sample packet was only good for a couple uses, so then I ordered Josie's travel cleansing oil and SPF 40 kit. It's not at all cost effective, but it was a good way to try it out to see what I thought. I'm really liking it so far! Have you tried Josie's cleansing oil and what did you think of it?

I don't like it. I don't feel it cleaned my skin all that well, plus it broke me out as most ofher products do. The only thing of her's I can use is her gloss, and she doesn't even make the kind I like anymore.

I don't like it either, unfortunately. It irritated my skin and if you get it in your eyes accidentally, ouch! I do not like using anything with grapefruit or other citrus oils on my skin because they generally tend to irritate it and/or dry it out.

I LOVE it! It takes off all of my makeup and keeps my skin looking good. You only need 2-3 pumps too so it does last a while. I have switched to Josie for all of my skin care. It has helped my 40 something skin a lot! If you liked the sample you will love it!

I have only used the cleansing oil that is for the body (the one from her recent TSV). Do not like it. I don't feel that it cleanses very well and not cost effective. It does make my body soft I do admit, but have to use too much to feel clean.

I've been using the cleansing oil for about 4 months and I really like it, it leaves my face feeling hydrated and not dry at all. I used to use Purity but haven't used that since I bought this.

Hi

I am a 41 year old women with ace prone skin. I was also born with a bi-lateral cleft lip which has left me with scares after 20 surgeries to repair it....the reason I shared that is because her cleansing oil and argon oil has smoothed and diminished my scars!!!!! I have tried everything, so this was a surprise, a happy one. My acne is gone as well. It has also reduced my dark circles around my eyes. I also use the spf lotion. I think it is amazing.

I use it to shave my legs, my face broke out after using.

I love it. It doesnt irritate my breakout-prone skin. It removes all of my makeup (including eye makeup) and lasts a long time. I highly recommend the Pure & Simple skincare set. I got it on Auto Delivery when it was a TSV and love the tinted moisturizer also.

Congratulations on finding something that has worked so well for you. Don't you just love it when this happens?

I like the cleansing oil very much. Works on acne, too? hmm

I heard it received very good reviews. I personally have not tried it yet. It's a little pricey for a face cleanser. I love her hair serum, concealer/corrector, Matchmaker serum, and argan oil. I may try it out though, in the travel size for $11. I just bought an eye shadow by Trish McEvoy so I could receive the 4 pc. gift set and free shipping. I am currently using Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. You only need a tiny bit because it is a thick cream. Has menthol in it and it wakes up the skin. Great product. Don't use it to remove eye makeup because of the menthol.

I really like it as well. I use it on a cotton ball to remove my eye make-up and it takes it off great. I always make sure to rub it into my skin really well un til it turns kind of "milky" and then rinse it off. It leaves my skin feeling nice and clean. I have combo skin and haven't had a problem with it. I'm halfway thru my second bottle and it lasts a long time.

I love the stuff! I find it doesn't dry my skin out, and I like the citrus smell. A few other high end cleansers I've tried in the past are all of the Perricone cleansers and Purity. I tossed the other stuff out once I found this. I don't find it to be expensive at all, because it really doesn't take much. Oil goes further, imo.

I love her Argan Oil Facial Cleanser !! My skin stays smoother and brighter and it has normalized my combo skin:) !!!

I even use it with my Clarisonic sometimes.

It takes off all my makeup and leaves my face soft but I can't use it everyday or I break out. I only have a little sample bottle of it in a kit and won't likely get it again unless it comes in kit with other things I like.

I love Josie's cleansing oil! I've been using it since she came out with it and I'm very happy with it.

Moisturizing and gentle on the skin. Cleanses beautifully for me.

Adore it--my sensitive skin is fine with it, and it removes m/u well. It does not leave my skin feeling tight.

Got the facial cleansing oil w/ an earlier TSV and love it. Do use it as a m/u remover, then use another cleanser. This works for me.

Why would grapefruit oil be bad? I imagine it is full of vitamin c, which is one of the only ingredients scientifically proven to be anti-aging according to an am tv show:) Retinol is the other. Ive tried it. I prefer DHC or dermalogica.

I don't like it. It is too thick. All of the cleansing oils I have used spread around a lot easier. So I mix it with another cleanser to use it up but I will not repurchase.

Have never used the facial cleanser, but the body cleanser that came in the recent TSV is useless, IMO. Isn't something I will purchase again. Love the argon oil, however.

I have JM and Bosica. I always reach for the Boscia. It's not as heavy and does not have that horrible taste the JM has. No matter how hard I try I always get the JM too close to my mouth.

Yep, I was the ONE to warn you about the grapefruit in this cleansing oil. On another thread, you had made a comment about your skin was drying out from the J.M. Cleansing Oil. I looked up the ingredients and passed on to you about the grapefruit extract or oil ( whichever it was ).

I love Fancl's cleansing oil and it has "excellent" ingredients. It's mild but still does a wonderful job of cleansing - without causing the skin to dry out or cause irritation.

I didn't want to say anything to jinx it, but I also think it's making my skin clearer, which is also surprising to me. I'm so happy it's worked so well for you.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

I really like it. It just melts makeup away. I've used DHC's cleansing oil for years. It is hard to believe that a oil based product will leave your skin so clean, but it's true.

I like that it does a good job removing all the makeup and leaves the skin, soft but it does tend to make my pores appear larger at bridge of nose and this is usually not a problem for me. I now only use it a couple of times a week.

I will use up what I have from the TSV, but it won't be a repurchase.

:)
