My mother had to tell me that there was no santa and I remember being shocked to find out that they had lied to me all those years (probably I was six) and had been telling me he was real and brought presents but really they were the ones putting the presents under the tree. She then told me that since my younger brother and sister didn't know that I wasn't allowed to tell them. So here they had lied to me and now I was expected to lie to my brother and sister and pretend he was real when he wasn't. I never thought it was a good idea to tell kids he's real, I prefer to just say it's a nice Christmas fairy tale like Rudolf and Frosty the Snowman.
