Best hand lotion/cream for cracked fingers/hands

Started 1351563373.95 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1351570532 by shoppergrl

Can anyone recommend the best hand cream or lotion for hands and fingers that crack from the cold dry weather? My fingers has just started to crack and split and I need to find something that can prevent this.

I have been using Smith's Rosebud Salve on my cuticles during the day and Lansinoh (lanolin) at night, Goldbond hand cream. The Smith's is a lip product but is great for your cuticles and the Lansinoh is for breastfeeding mothers but is amazing effective for cuticles and lips.

I have picked, cut and pulled at my cuticles for years and this routine has completely transformed my hands. My nails and cuticles looks normal and beautiful now.

Okeefe's Working Hands......has majorly helped my hisband's hands. His hands have never looked so good. He is addicted to this.....every night of the year he slathers it on.

Vaseline is the best for me, anything else just stings my skin, plus now they make it with cocoa butter so it smells nice.

Mel, what does OKeef's smell like?

O'Keeffe's Working Hands is the only thing that has ever truly worked to heal my hands. It is my holy grail and I highly recommend it. I have the worst time with dry cracked hands and it is so very painful.

The only place I can find it in my city is Lowe's. It is in the Paint Section near the solvents.

Hope this helps!

No detectable odor to my nose.

The O'Keeffe's has no scent and I do not really notice any smell from it.

I agree with 4kitties...it is the only thing that works for cracked fingers and hands. I've been using it for a few years. It has absolutely NO fragrance and I get a good deal on Amazon. Try O'Keeffe's...you will NOT be disappointed.

At night I would put Vaseline on them and wear white socks over them. They will heal quickly. I like the regular O'cttaine hand cream in the silver tube. It rocks. Don't need much at all.

O'Keefe's without a doubt. Great for the feet too. I usually get it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I've tried almost every kind of hand cream/lotion (including ALL those mentioned above except Aquafor), and the only thing that works when my hands are in really bad shape is Vanicream (you can find it at most drugstores). Second best was Miracle Hand Repair (cheapest is at Bed, Bath & Beyond with coupon).

Everyone is different, so it may take some experimentation to find what works best for you.

I used to have deep, painful finger cracks in the winter until I found out that antibacterial hand soap causes finger cracks. I haven't had cracks in my fingers since I gave up antibacterial hand soap in the winter - such a simple solution!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I work on a computer all day, so having cracked fingers is pretty painful. I read somewhere that using clear fingernail polish can be used to close finger cracks. I found that it helps with the pain - I am not sure how sanitary it is, but it did help me.

It might be better if you use liquid bandaids to close the cracks until you get them under control.

Another vote for CeraVe (at drugstores). Was recommended by a doctor. Best product
