Transparent glycerin soap with chips of pastel soaps in it--Where to find it?

Started 1348967097.773 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1351472652.567 by dondid

I bought this soap a long time ago--probably in the 1960s or so, and it wasn't very expensive but it was wonderful. It was a glycerin soap but had chunks of pink and blue and yellow soap chopped up in it. I haven't seen it in years but I keep looking for it.

Any of you know where to get this? I can't even remember the name, but it seems like it had an oval foil like label on it!

A blast from the past!

Check pureheartsoap on etsy.com . I love her soaps. She might make something like that.

I don't know the name of the soap you remember from the '60's, but there is a soap co. called "Primal Elements" that does glycerin soap with different designs/images within the soap. So cool!!! I have a little speciality shop in my area that carries them. They make great gifts.

I know exactly the soap you're talking about!! It had the most beautiful scent. I always got mine in Burlington Coat Factory but used to see it other places like little gift shops. I kept a bar in my linen closet for years and scraped a little off every once in a while to revive the scent. I remember a clear wrapper with an oval tag.

I don't think I'm familiar with the exact soap you're talking about, but I've seen and purchased many different clear soaps with this design inside of them.

I know you could find a lot of different bar soaps at TJ Maxx and have seen them there; I doubt they carry the actual soap you're talking about, but they have similar ones. Also, if you check out Etsy and search for handmade soaps, I'm pretty positive that some vendors will make soaps like this. Good luck searching!

I think QVC sells "Soap Rocks"--- a mix of various colors. I saw them at local Hallmark store today.

Actually the website was for finding items. Someone asked about it (they knew the name) and it seemed a lot of people have been looking for it to no avail. Wondering if they even sell it in Spain anymore!

You could always ask the Vermont Store if they can find it, they specialize in 60's items.

Drop them a line.

Confetti Soap

Something like the above?

I found this by googling confetti glycerin soap. This one is from Original Soap dot net.

Jill was on the other day with glycerin soaps and there were 3 different colors to choose from. Each set had 3 soaps.

Go to Whole Foods supermarket. They have a HUGE aisle of soaps, but also they have these buy by the weight soap section. You put the slices of soap you want in these cute bags yourself. There's several scents & varieties, including one like what you describe.

Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were, tomorrow's a fresh opportunity to make it better.

The section varies per each Whole Foods store, but here's an idea of what the table looks like. There's also one for bath salts and masks.

I bought these a couple of times from QVC. They are big, last a long time, produces lots of suds and leave your skin very soft. I would highly recommend them.

I remember the soap you are talking about. in the 70s my dad was station in ROTA Spain and all the guys in his squadron were bringing this soap home to their wives. It isn't just the way it feels and lathers, it had an absolutely wonderful scent to it. My mom would let me use it now and then. I remember that the scent was so nice that Mom didn't wear perfume with it.

I so wish I could find it too, big problem is that niether my dad or mom canremember the name of it.

I will be looking let me know if you find anything.

Thanks

You can make your own, very easily, if you are so inclined. Both JoAnns & Michaels have soap molds, bricks of glycerin soap and soap chips. You can add what ever essential oils you prefer for scent. All you do is heat the soap in the microwave, add the soap chips, & pour into a mold. Very easy. My kids do this all the time for teacher's gifts.
