Jellua Squid Ink shampoo and conditioner

Started 1345658856.533 in Beauty Banter | Last reply 1345718559.56 by shooluvva

Anyone use this or even heard of it? My stylist swears this will help my summer sun dried hair. Wen is just not doing it this year. She said the color is dark because of the squid ink but it won't hurt my blonde highlights. This is returnable if I don't like it but I'm hoping someone else has been my guinea pig. What did you think of it?

{#emotions_dlg.scared}eeks...never even heard of it; just the name alone would probably deter me from ever even picking up the bottle if I saw it in a store! My stylist recently started using a line called Keune so I just bought some of the color care shampoo/conditioner to try for myself. I usually use alterna but my hair always turns out so nice when she does it I thought I'd give it a go.

Can't help but wonder...how do they get that squid ink for salon/beauty products anyway?

Squid milking?{#emotions_dlg.ohmy} Squid farming?

lol. I can't imagine.....

Ewwwwwwww!! Squid milking?{#emotions_dlg.ohmy} Squid farming? (hysterical).

Hair is dead keratin...dead, the most we can hope to do is coat it with chemicals that make it feel healthy. I hate when a so called professional hairstylist makes claims about a product. No product can heal your hair.

I vented there for a moment, please excuse me. {#emotions_dlg.glare}

How about squid squishing? These products are from Korea and they said they got held up two weeks in customs. Ingredients include the normal sulfates, parabens, and a long form of silicone. Also a bunch of methyl somethings. I'm asking my pharmacist friend to OK this before I put it on my head. I am normally ho hum about the salon product lines she has carried over the years, but she and her sister really raved about this one.

Sounds really interesting. Love squid ink but never tried it in my hair!

If it doesn't work out as a shampoo, can you make a little risotto with it? {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Squid squirt ink when they are in danger, it's their magic trick, by the time the ink clears, they are long gone.

Yes, they do. But they live in salt water and it would still be difficult collecting 'pure' squid ink mixed in with the salt water for use in anything. Hence the reference to 'farming' [like cat fish farming] and 'milking'. I can't imagine how they do it if not by those methods!

Yeah, I was trying to be funny about it, but seriously...how do they do that [get the pure ink]. Pick them up out of the water, go boo! and scare them so they squirt pure ink? lol.
