Does anybody else think this is the normal thing to do? He says they are just friends.

They must think it is normal. After all, they are friends. Why do you ask?

If he was married to me ...I would find it unacceptable...

I had a co-worker who hired a personal trainer and she was always on the phone with him texting and going to lunch. He would even send her flowers and sometimes pick up her kids from school, she was married, he wasn't but she would say, we're just friends.

So would I. Too close for comfort, shall we say?

No, being friends with the opposite s -ex who are in a straight married/committed relationship should not be done imo. Temptation usually overrules. First there is the texting, the calls, the lunch dates, and then the hotels.
I am assuming the female personal trainer is not gay.

I wonder how her husband felt about it. Not too good I would imagine.

I think theoretically, it's possible for a straight man and a straight woman to be platonic friends. Even if both have honest intentions, it's risky. You never know when those tricky hormones will kick in! No, I would not be comfortable with my husband hanging out and being "friends" with another woman. And if I'm not happy with it.....it isn't happening. If she's having lunch (I called it dating) with the guy and he's sending her flowers (romance!); there's more than "friendship" going on. I'm not saying they are doing the horizontal tango. I'm saying SHE is playing with fire. She's the one with the husband. No....it isn't normal for married people to date.
