Dailyh Positive Thread for Saturday

Peace of Jesus to you all! Lori should be landed in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. now, going thru customs. She has a 4 hour lay over there before getting her Mpls. plane. I'm hoping she'll call. It's been an ordinary day today full of ordinary blessings we cannot live without! You can tell that I'm very anxious to see her tomorrow.

When you have faith in yourself and God, you will know that you are loved
and safe and never alone. Lord, I am these things because You are always
with me.
S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow
is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you--you of little
faith! And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to
drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world that
strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as
well." ~Luke 12:28-31

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

I know that God cannot teach anyone who is trusting in a "crutch." I can
throw away the worldly things I have come to depend upon and walk in God's
power and spirit. God's power can so invigorate me that I can indeed walk
on to victory. There is never any limit go God's power.
I can go step by step, one day at a time. God's will can be revealed to me as
I go forward.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may have more and more dependence on God. I pray that I may
throw away the "crutches" I sometimes rely upon and let God's power take
their place.
Your daily reading from St. Faustina's diary February 27 (Divine Mercy in My Soul)

Hail to You, Eternal Love, my Sweet Jesus, who have condescended to dwell in my heart! I salute You, O glorious Godhead who have deigned to stoop to me, and out of love for me have so emptied Yourself as to assume the insignificant form of bread. I salute You, Jesus, never-fading flower of humanity. You are all there is for my soul. Your love is purer than a lily, and Your presence is more pleasing to me than the fragrance of a hyacinth. Your friendship is more tender and subtle than the scent of a rose, and yet it is stronger than death. O Jesus, incomprehensible beauty, it is with pure souls that You communicate best, because they alone are capable of heroism and sacrifice. O sweet, rose-red blood of Jesus, ennoble my blood and change it into Your own blood, and let this be done to me according to Your good pleasure. (1575)

O my Jesus, if You yourself do not soothe the longing of my soul, then no one can either comfort or soothe it. Your every approach arouses new raptures of love in my soul, but also a new agony; because, despite all Your approaches to my soul, even the most exceptional, I am still loving You from a distance, and my heart dies in an ecstasy of love; because this is still not the complete and eternal union, although You commune with me so very often unveiled [as if face to face]; nevertheless, You thereby open in my soul and heart an abyss of love and desire for You, my God, and this bottomless abyss, this total desiring of God, cannot be completely filled on this earth. * A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS *
«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»

A little talk with Jesus
How it smooths the rugged road,
How it cheers and helps me onward
When I faint beneath my load.

When my heart is crushed with sorrow
And my eyes with tears are dim,
There is naught can yield me comfort
Like a little talk with Him.

Though my way is often dreary
And my walk is weak and slow,
A little talk with Jesus
Tells me all I need to know.

And He answers me so gently
In a soft and loving tone,
"I am with you always
You will never be alone.

He tells me that He loves me,
And paid the ransom for my soul,
Now He is my brother
His love has made me whole.

I cannot live without Him
His love is all I know,
A little talk with Jesus
Gives me all I need to grow.

Oh, I often feel impatient
And I mourn His long delay,
For I never can be settled
While He yet remains away.

So I wait a little longer
For His own appointed time,
And I glory in the knowledge
That such hope is ever mine.

In my Father's perfect dwelling
Where the many mansions be,
I will daily talk with Jesus
And He there will talk with me.

A GLASS OF MILK

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way
through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.
He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his
nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked
for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large
glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"
"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to
accept pay for a kindness." He said... "Then I thank you from my heart." As
Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his
faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were
baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in
specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for
the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a
strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of
the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see
her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room
determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special
attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly
requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He
looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to
her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of
her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her
attention on the side of the bill. She read these words... "Paid in full
with one glass of milk" Signed: Dr. Howard Kelly. Tears of joy flooded her
eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread
abroad through human hearts and hands.”
What do Angels Look Like
Author Unknown

Like the little old lady who returned your wallet yesterday.
Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes light up the world, when you smile.
Like the small child who showed you the wonder in simple things.
Like the poor man who offered to share his lunch with you.
Like the rich man who showed you that it really is all possible, if only you believe.
Like the stranger who just happened to come along, when you had lost your way.
Like the friend who touched your heart, when you didn't think you had one.
Angels come in all sizes and shapes, all ages and skin types.
Some with freckles, some with dimples, some with wrinkles, some without.
They come disguised as friends, enemies teachers, students, lovers and fools.
They don't take life too seriously, they travel light.
They leave no forwarding address, they ask nothing in return.
They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, but when you choose to see, they are everywhere you look.
So, open you eyes and count all your Angels -- for you are truly blessed!
S P I R I T U A L R E F L E C T I O N

The Lord God took Abram outside and said, "Look up at the sky and count the
stars, if you can. Just so," he added, "shall your descendants be." We can
only imagine how these words affected Abram, someone who yearned for a child
his whole life long but believed he was beyond the age to have a child.
Abram came to see that nothing was impossible with God. His name was
changed to Abraham, meaning "father of many."

Even more spectacular was Jesus appearance to Peter, John and James. Jesus
appeared with clothing that was dazzlingly white and was conversing with
Moses and Elijah. It was so important in evangelizing, drawing many closer
to God and faith, that they see Jesus as the fulfillment of the law and a
prophet even more important then Elijah and the other prophets people would
be familiar with.

We can only imagine that Abram and Jesus' disciples would be overwhelmed
with what they heard and saw. They would likely be ready to stop their
lives and simply enjoy the news they heard. Peter, John and James even
offered to build three tents on the site, for Jesus, Moses and Elijah. The
words of our Psalm response, "The Lord is my light and my salvation" truly
come alive for them!

In our second reading we hear, "Join with others in being imitators of me,
brothers and sisters, and observe those who thus conduct themselves
according to the model you have in us." We are warned against following the
values of the world we live in, but living values worthy of children of God.
Our example needs to lead us into God's kingdom.

Jesus lets his disciples know, in no uncertain terms, that they must come
down from the mountain again. They'll need all the encouragement and strong
faith that came from what they had seen and heard in order to help others
believe as well. The gift of the Transfiguration was not given for their
enjoyment only, but to help others to believe as well.

During this Holy Season our practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving can
lead us closer to God. We can think of intimate experiences of God we have
enjoyed. We can share our deepened faith with those around us as Jesus'
disciples are called to do. This week we can remember the Lord's call and
do all we can to follow it and lead others closer to God.

February 27

Keep your eyes on Me! Waves of adversity are washing over you, and you feel tempted to give up. As your circumstances consume more and more of your attention, you are losing sight of Me. Yet I am with you always, holding you by your right hand. I am fully aware of your situation, and I will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear.

Your gravest danger is worrying about tomorrow. If you try to carry tomorrow’s burdens today, you will stagger under the load and eventually fall flat. You must discipline yourself to live within the boundaries of today. It is in the present moment that I walk close to you, helping you carry your burdens. Keep your focus on My Presence in the present.

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.
—Psalm 73:23

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Re: Dailyh Positive Thread for Saturday

Happy homecoming to Lori. Hey Pinky funny you should mention about your cholesterol medicine having something to do with your leg problems. About a year ago my brother was having all kinds of trouble with his legs and he was even falling, finally the doctor figured it might have some thing to do with the cholesterol medicine and took him off it he has been much better ever since then.

Re: Dailyh Positive Thread for Saturday

Gloria, Welcome home to Lori! Hope her flight went well, and I'm know you're thrilled to have her home.

Harlene, I can't tell you how many people we personally know that have had problems with this medicine. Like I posted yesterday, it never dawned on me that it could be a problem, as the nerve damage I have is permanent. I did more than usual these past few days just to be sure, and know this issue is resolved.

I'll head to town this morning, as I never got there yesterday. No plans for tomorrow except going to mass. It's supposed to start warming up over the next few days, and I'm so ready for it. Have a great weekend everyone! pinky

Re: Dailyh Positive Thread for Saturday

Lori got home at 4:15 AM this morning. She text me that she's sleeping. Good to know she is home safe and in her bed! Thanks for your prayers for her safety!

Just got reminded about drugs, at one time I took Estrogen, and noticed my feet cramping, looked at the warnings, and sure enough it can cause cramping, so I quit and that was the end of that cramping. I'm not on any meds of any kind. My husband is only on only one, an anti-depressant (Effixor) that he can't get off, he's tried, but it won't work. Dr. told him he has a chemical imbalance.

I think I'll start making bread now.

Bread is started, We'll going to have Health Bread today! Lori loves it!

Bobbiesue - you sure are getting your share of snow! Is it every year like this? Last we we had way too much snow and a harsh winter compared to this year. Guess praying for a mild winter helped.

Re: Dailyh Positive Thread for Saturday

Bobbiesue, I hope the snow misses you this time. We're supposed to get more next week.

Gloria, Have fun making your bread, and getting together with Lori. I'm on two meds that are prescription, and need an allergy pill all year. One is thyroid, and the other for pain. You are very lucky not to need anything, and Linus only one. Enjoy your family this weekend! pinky
