Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Rainy day most of the night and morning, but we need it so praise and thanks be to God! I did accomplish digging potatoes in the little garden by the patio, nice, red ones - I really love digging potatoes!! Had hashbrowns for supper with them, and also the newly freshly made deer sausage that Linus and his brothers made today. Plus a good salad, of course, too. It sure was a blessing to see a thread by Love Roses for our 50th! Wow! What a surprise! Thank you, Love Roses! What a sweet thing to do! Praying for you all - daily - for all your needs.

Regret nothing, not even your failures. Take in the richness of only today

because to carry any more will only weigh you down. Lord, You have

promised to help me with the burdens of today. I will not look backwards.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

~Matthew 6:10

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

"Your will be done" can be our often repeated prayer. And in the

willing of God's will there can be gladness. We can delight to do God's

will because when we do, all our life can go better and everything will

tend to work well for us in the long run. When we are honestly trying

to do God's will and humbly accepting the results, nothing can seriously

hurt us. Those of us who accept the will of God in our lives may not

inherit the earth, but we can inherit real peace of mind.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may have a yielded will. I pray that my will may be

attuned to the will of God.

Friday 20TH Week in Ordinary Time

[Memorial, Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary]

Ez 37: 1-14 / Ps 107: 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 / Mt 22: 34-40

Reading: Ez 37: 1-14

The hand of Yahweh was upon me. He brought me out and led me in spirit to

the middle of the valley which was full of bones. He made me walk to and fro

among them and I could see there was a great number of them on the ground

all along the valley and that they were very dry. Yahweh said to me, "Son of

man, can these bones live again?" I said, "Lord Yahweh, only you know that."

He then said, "Speak on my behalf concerning these bones; say to them: Dry

bones, hear the word of Yahweh! Yahweh says: I am going to put spirit in you

and make you live. I shall put sinews on you and make flesh grow on you; I

shall cover you with skin and give you my spirit, that you may live. And you

will know that I am Yahweh." I prophesied as I had been commanded and then

there was a noise and commotion; the bones joined together. I looked and saw

that they had sinews, that flesh was growing on them and that he was

covering them with skin. But there was no spirit in them. So Yahweh said to

me, "Speak on my behalf and call on the Spirit, son of man! Say to the

Spirit: This is the word of Yahweh: Spirit, come from the four winds.

Breathe into these dead bones and let them live!" I prophesied as he had

commanded me and breath entered them; they came alive, standing on their

feet - a great, immense army! He then said to me, "Son of man, these bones

are all Israel. They keep saying: 'Our bones are dry, hope has gone, it is

the end of us.' So prophesy! Say to them: This is what Yahweh says: I am

going to open your tombs, I shall bring you out of your tombs, my people,

and lead you back to the land of Israel. You will know that I am Yahweh, O

my people! when I open your graves and bring you out of your graves, when I

put my spirit in you and you live. I shall settle you in your land and you

will know that I, Yahweh, have done what I said I would do."

Gospel: Matthew 22: 34-40

When the Pharisees heard how Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they came

together. One of them, a teacher of the Law, tried to test him with this

question, "Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the Law?"

Jesus answered, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart,

with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and the most

important of the commandments. But after this there is another one very

similar to it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole Law and

the Prophets are founded on these two commandments."

Reflection:

A true disciple is one who genuinely desires to learn. Unlike the

Sadducees, Pharisees and teachers of the Law who interpret it according to

their limited understanding, Jesus reveals to us the Truth by means of the

Wisdom of God. Jesus summarizes the essence of the Law into two: Love God

and love one another. These two commandments go hand in hand because they

teach the application of what is infinitely unfathomable.

Our Mother Mary is an example of a true disciple. She predisposes her

heart in order to be receptive to the teachings in Scriptures and to be

reflective in seeking to understand the situations she encounters. We find

these words about Mary in Scripture verses like: "She kept all this in her

heart" and "Do whatever he tells you to do."

Catholics often pray the "Hail Mary" prayer. This prayer helps us

situate ourselves into the calling of Mary in the annunciation. This call is

presented to all Christians and demands a similar response as hers. Her

special role as Mother of God is not just limited to the historical Jesus

but it extends to us as well in an eschatological sense. Whenever we

celebrate with the Church the mass or the Eucharistic celebration, in a way

we are being transformed into the body of Christ. In a remarkable way it

fulfills the prophecy in our first reading when God declared that He will

put flesh and sinews and make into living bodies the dried bones that have

scattered in the fields.

With Mary as Queen Mother and patron of our Church, generations of

disciples will be produced to bring the message of the Life of Christ into

the world.

Did You? Can You?

Can you say today in honesty,

As the hours slip by so fast,

That you've helped a single person

Of the many you have passed?

Did you waste the day, or lose it?

Was it well, or properly spent?

Did you leave a trail of kindness,

Or mementos of discontent?

Have you given God a moment,

In humble, devout prayer?

Have you talked with God in honesty,

To let Him know you care?

As you close your eyes in slumber,

Do you think that God would say,

You have made the world much better,

For you lived a lot today?

AN ACT OF DESIRE

Eternal Father, turn Thy merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon

poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the

sake of His sorrowful passion show us Thy mercy, that we may praise the

omnipotence of Thy mercy for ever and ever. Amen

Eternal Father, turn Thy merciful gaze also upon the company of Thy chosen

ones in Thy vineyard--upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow

them with the strength of Thy blessing. For the love of the Heart of Thy Son

in which they are enfolded, impart to them, Thy power and light, that they

may guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to

Thy boundless mercy for ages without end. Amen.

The Sculptor

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the

clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today.

I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or...

I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or...

I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases

wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or...

I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I

was growing up or...

I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or...

I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friends or...

I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or...

I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or...

I can eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or...

I can feel honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my

mind, body, and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped.

And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me.

I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

Meditations by Padre Pio

God can reject everything in a creature conceived in sin and which bears the

indelible impression inherited from Adam. But He absolutely cannot reject

the sincere desire to love Him.

Mother Teresa Said...

“ Unless you become like a little child, you cannot enter into heaven. “ And

what is being a little child? It is having a clean heart, a pure heart, a

heart that holds Jesus, a heart that can say again and again, “ Jesus in my

heart, I believe in your tender love for me. I love you. “

Sorry I'm so late, but my sciatica has been really giving me a bad time and sometimes it's hard for me to sit at my computer. I mainly go on at night on my tablet when I'm in bed. Counting my blessings. Harlene(lovestopaint)
