A friend of mine has written and told me that a relative of hers who has cancer (unspecified type) and had been undergoing radiation and chemo, is now in a doctor induced coma. He is 65.
I had never heard of this. I hope it means he at least is no longer in pain. Does that mean there is no longer any hope? Will they let him come out of it or just let him slip away? I didn't want to ask her these questions and appear rude, morbid or uncaring.
I thought I'd ask here if anyone knows for sure what this means. I need to write back to her and don't want to say the wrong thing.
