Has anyone used "Bill Me Later"?

If you have used it, how does it work? Can you make monthly payments or do they just send you a bill when the bill is due? Is there a catch?

Thanks.

It just like a credit card - through Citibank. You get a statement each month. You can either pay the minimum due or the balance, or anything in between.

Thanks. Well, I used it and I have 6 months to pay. I was concerned though because I have received the item but I have never received a statement from them. I just didn't want to be surprised with a bill at the end of the 6 monts. I wanted to pay every month.

I suppose I won't get a bill for a month after purchase then.

Thanks. I just didn't know exactly how it worked.

Can't you go into your account and throw money at it any time you want to ?

You can establish an account online and pay when you want. I am doing this because I want to ensure that I pay off my computer prior to the end of the 6 month period....no interest charges!

I bought the computer a little over a week ago. I've received the computer, but never been billed yet.

Can I find my account without an account number? I guess I can try. If I can't find my account number, I can call HP. I'm sure they have it.

Thanks for the idea. I want to pay without interest also, that's why I was concerned. I'd also like to make sure the balance matches what I owe.

Mima, I have a BML acct. They will send you a bill and then your monthly payments will start. Sometimes they are a little slow sending the first bill, but they will you can be sure of that.

I use it all the time. U can make monthly payments BUT interest rates are approx. 18%. I pay it off immediately if I like what I purchased.I have used it with the Q,walmart,Ace hardware,Overstock and several other places. It is nice to use.

U must have full acct. number to see your bill. IF U USE bill me later to pay your bill, and not your bank,U CAN NOT pay anything over what your balance is. U have to pay exactly what the closing is. I was 3 cents short a couple months ago, and they wanted their 3 cents or I would have to pay that 18% interest. So I sent my payment thru my bank and sent them $1.00 to make sure I had enough coverage, and had some on credit.

How do you use it at places that don't offer it? I'm confused. Do you get a charge card in the mail?

I have a Bill Me Later account. You are not issued an actual "credit or charge card." It is a vehicle to pay for on-line purchasing only. Not everyone accepts Bill Me Later so obviously you can only use it where it is accepted.

I don't get a physical monthly statement, it is sent to me on-line and I go on-line to pay it. I have never had a problem with BML and I like it because all my on-line paying can be done using this account (if accepted at the store) and I can keep track of everything in one place.

ETA: Mima, QVC accepts BML as does Walmart.com.

You can't buy love but you can adopt it. Adopt, don't shop.

No---you don't receive a card, but you can use it online anywhere that they accept BML. You never put a charge number in you just follow the directions for BML.

Mima, I do receive a statement in the mail and you should too unless you opt out in the future for internet statements.

I had never heard of BML until I started noticing it recently. Wow, so good to know.

So when customers are wanting the easy pays, why don't they use BML? Is it that they don't know about it like me?

Gosh, no worry about easy pay again.

I just don't want to get carried away! One thing at a time will all I will allow myself.

Thank you all for the info.

I interviewed in their offices once and I must say it was one of the most depressing work environments I had ever seen.

As for using that service - with cash, paypal, and credit cards I don't need it

I should worry, not for nothin' everybody loves me Yes they do! And I love everybody

Too much.

The first time you use it, I think they check your credit. Once they okay you, you just check off the Bill Me Later option when you check out. I accidentally forgot to change my default and ran up a ridiculous balance, and their interest rate is highway robbery. That's what I get for being careless.

HATED IT!

It's a generic company that does what individual companies used to. I used to do "Bill Me Later" on Family Circle, Woman's Day, etc. magazines, but now, it's all thru this one place - hard to know if it was a scam, etc., no ID, etc. So, I just cancelled all the subscriptions.

I apologize for the TRIPLE post. I don't know why this is going on.

You are confused. The thing you check off as "bill me later" on a magazine subscription is not the same as the company called Bill Me Later which is a division of Citigroup.
