Cancer free

I am so happy to say that I am 3 years breast cancer free as of today. I got all my testing back and the reports were fine (mammo and blood work). Thank God! I also wish the same good report for all who have fought or are fighting cancer. May you be cured. Lastly, dont forget to get your mammograms and pap smears. A mammogram saved my life, or I never would have known I had cancer at the time.

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate it. To bigsister, no I dont take those drugs. I thought he said it depends which kind of breast cancer one has and that determines if one takes those. Do you take them? Thank you hckynut for reminding everyone about the colon cancer screening also.

Take care.

Shorty, no, I don't take them; it's my sister who has to decide if she wants to start the five-year regimen of one of them. Of course, her dr. wants her to, but she's not sure, and I'm thinking NO.

Shorty, twice i wrote you a reply, congratulating you and in my post I had the word g y n and o b before that, which was not allowed. Are they crazy????

Are you on Tamoxifen??? I had a typical cells which were removed by a 2 hour surgery, and had I been late for my mammo or had skipped it one year, these would have grown into cancer cells, so I was very lucky. Yet, i read on Wellness that someone's Mom had taken T. and gotten cervical (?) cancer and needed a hysterectomy and Chemo.

What are your thoughts on this? I am under supervision by the Chief of Oncology in Georgetown Hosp., DC, and surgeon (prof.) for breasts, who also reads my mammograms, so I believe I am in the best of hands, but now worried about T. Not until Jan. will I have been on it for only 1 year, and one needs to be on it for 5 years. Amazingly, I have endured no NO side effects, not even have I put on the 10 lbs as most do.

Am looking forward to your reply, this is my 3rd try, and hope this is going through. Meanwhile, I hope you and your family are celebrating big time, as time flies.

Many hugs and all the best,

Magenta

From the OP

Thank you again for the replies and I am so glad to see there are others who are celebrating anniversarys. Please dont forgot those who lost the fight and lets keep working to find a cure!

Magenta- No I dont take tamoxifen, because the doctor said it depends what type as to who takes it. So I am unfamiliar with it, except what little bit I read and my one relative took it and she is just over 5 years cancer free. I am glad yours was caught in time and I hope you continue to be well as they continue to monitor you. It seems to me that you are in good hands. There is a cancer site you can check on too with lots of information called breast cancer dot org. The people on there are wonderful and a world of knowledge. I was on there when I was going through cancer.

Best wishes to all,

Shorty.
