The only thing that I read was that she had "a short illness".

RIP, Ms. Binchy.

OMG, I had not heard that she died. I have most of her books and she is one of my favorite authors. For those not familiar with Mave Binchy she is an Irish author and writes mostly fiction about people and relationships.

Mave, I will miss the books you will never get the chance to write. RIP

Hi, solar, I think the AP obituary speaks of a health crisis involving her heart in 2002; her novel "Heart and Soul" evidently had some link to her illness.

I haven't read many of her books but I loved "Circle of Friends." The Irish are wonderful storytellers.

Sorry to hear she passed.

Got a life, a job, volunteered & read a book; I'm just jealous & want to be that other person; I'm a troll/board police because I follow QStandards; I'll "Google it" since I have too much time on my hands. Ok?(-:

Why should the cause of her death be of any concern to anyone outside of her family and very closest friends? Americans know no personal boundaries.

It's freedom of speech, mild curiosity. Anyone can ask anything. No one is forced to answer...at least not here.

When I was a kid and asked my mom how did someone die she had a standard answer:

They Stopped Breathing.

Sorry, esme, but it's morbid curiosity imo. And I was commenting on the inappropriateness of the OP's question, not on her right to ask it.
