Submerge it a dish/cup of water with a lot of ice.

You may lose your fingernail.

This just made my toes curl when I read it, how painful.

When my son smashed his finger he did have to go to Dr and they

drilled a small hole in his nail to relieve the pressure. I know that might sound

terrible but you could just see the relief in his face when the pressure was gone.

Hope you get relief soon

If possible take a sleep aid too. I know how painful that is. I slammed my finger in the car door so hard I actually fainted. UGH!

When I was 9 years old, my brother shut sll my fingerd on my left hand in the car door. I did not feel much at the time, but as soon as the car door was opened, you could have heard me a mile away.

My parent;s took me the ER,and all they did was say keep ice on it, and I got a teatnus shot. I had to keep my hand elevated.

They gave my parent's a prescription for an antibotic and something for discomfort.

I shut my finger in the car door too. I was getting out of the car, just having come home from getting stitches in my chin ... it was quite a day.

My brother was helping me out of the car and slammed the door too soon. My Mom was mortified to take me back to the ER - lol!

It was my brother also. He could not understand why the door was hard to close. I explained it real fast why.

My oldest son had arthroscopic surgery on his knee, he asked to go back to school. We said no, stay home today. The Dr., said he has crutches, I see no reason why he can't go.

He did go, and hour later I got a call from the school, saying he fell and split his chin open. he was rushed back to the hospital, and had 18 stitches in his chin.

I've done it to a toenail but never a fingernail. It eventually turned black and came off, but it took a while.

I'm sorry this happened but I don't think I would go to a shopping board to type and ask questions if this happened to me. I hope you are ok today.

Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us & they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day. It's amazing how much love & laughter they bring into our lives & even how much closer we become w/each other because of them.

OUCH!

Did you end up going to the doctor?

ICE/ICE/ICE, that's about it. Maybe pop and advil or aleve if it is ok for you to take an anti-inflammatory.

Next possibly will comes some pain with pressure under the fingernail. That is from a blood buildup, but this does not always happen. I won't to into describing how I eliminated that problem, I know when I did it with my toes, my wife would always run out of the room.

Ouch!

Yup, ice. Don't feel all alone - yesterday I dropped a pot lid on my toes. ouchy! They still hurt. Thank goodness it wasn't a Le Creuset pot lid - just a stainless steel framed glass lid, but it sure felt like it was made of concrete by the time it hit my foot!

Thanks, everyone!!! Sorry I haven't been back sooner for an update. My finger isn't throbbing quite so much this morning, but I am very tempted to put a whole in my nail to relieve some of the pressure, although I know that wouldn't be wise. It's still swollen and very purple, but at least it's not broken. Thanks again for your concern and your suggestions!
