Magazine Subscriptions, How Many Do You have, If Any?

Started 1340402675.783 in Viewpoints | Last reply 1340463879.283 by Qwackertoo

I currently have six and one of my 'frequent flyer' Airlines is about to expire a few thousand miles and have a list to choose from. They offer a few good choice but many are things I wouldn't read.

I like the News and then the travel magazines the best.

None really, in between the ones I get at the library and thumb thru and the ones my boss buys for the office and gives me (love Garden Gate, it goes into a folder so I keep it) the others I read during down time and then we donate them elsewhere. I used to buy several but they began to all seem the same. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

I hear ya Minkbunny because feel the same way. It it weren't for the 'miles" , I probably wouldn't have any either.

I used to love "Good Housekeeping" but when John Mack Carter left, it went down hill.

Oh yeah, I forgot - we get several different horse related magazines that are part of the membership in the AQHA and my husband gets a couple of outdoor type magazines that were gifts from his kids.

My heroes have always been cowboys, and they still are it seems.

And I don't know what happened to Redbook, it turned into Cosmo {#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

I have 3 now. Southern Living, Country Living and Consumer Reports. I used to get a lot more, but I really didn't have time for them and they were just creating clutter. So, as the subscriptions expired, I did not renew them.

What is most annoying is when you DO subscribe, you get your first issue of a three year subscription in January,

in February they start sending the renewal forms. {#emotions_dlg.crying}

After I read them and copy some articles, I donate them to various places.

I was getting some free ones; but the free period was running out and I cancelled them. Got the "this is your last issue" issue of Cuisine at Home today; and I think the issue of Whole Living I received today will be the last one. I don't plan to renew either. Won't be renewing Birds and Blooms either. Dropping that one bothers me a little; maybe a little time and distance will help.

Just extended Organic Gardening. And subscribed a couple months ago to Martha Stewart Living, which came with a free subscription to Everyday Food. So I guess they're the only ones I'm getting.

And don't you just "love" the urgent notice written in red? {#emotions_dlg.mad}

My daughter ordered me Ladies home journal, family circle, and Bertter homes and garden. Family circile is geared more for young families but has some good recipies but won't renew it. Ladies home journal is okay, but won't renew it. BHG will renew has something for everyone, even my husband likes it. I just subscribed to HGTV magazine and it is excellent. The rest of the them I buy only if they interest me. Most of the magazines are so full of ads that they are not worth the price of the subscription, even if they give it to you for free.

Three. I get Sunset, Ladies Home Journal and Good Housekeeping. I probably won't renew LHJ. Sunset is more for my husband, but I like looking at the recipes.

0..lol. However, my husband has scripts to Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone. I sometimes read those. Otherwise I think magazines have become way over priced.

Amazon routinely offers really low prices on some magazines. My Entertainment Weekly was $15 for 52 issues. Can't beat that. They always have low prices on Good Housekeeping and others. . My People magazine is expensive.

i probably subscribe to 20 plus magazines..... all types. some i have paid for and some came with items i have bought from hsn. love my magazines. they then either get given to a friend of ours who sells them at flea markets OR i take them into work to leave at the table for customers to read if they are waiting OR employees to read during their lunch.

most magazine subscriptions now are super cheap.... some as low as 6.00 a year!

I used to subscribe to a lot more but since I'm retired I elect to borrow from my local public library if I see an interesting edition/article. The library loans recent issues (not current) for a two week period. Great!
