McDonalds new commercial for chicken nuggets features an older guy in black glasses offering advice to a younger guy. Who is he? I get the feeling I'm supposed to recognize him.

Me too. I thought the commercial was built around this man's identity but couldn't come up with it. If no one recognizes him, McDonald's wasted their money

I saw the commercial, didn't recognize the older man, but I thought it was a cute commercial!

I think it was just about an older man giving tips to the young fellow on how to wow a lady!Wink

Not exactly, we're talking about it. Even if I don't recognize him he still has a familiar look and I like the ad.

I DVR practically everything and zip through the ads. Maybe I should slow down and take a peek.

Haven't seen it. Anyone has a link to a vid somewhere? I'd like to take a guess.

Can't find a link to the video but there is a picture of the man on the McDonalds website.

I have to admit he looks more familiar in the ad than the picture but I still feel like I should either know who he is or where I've seen him before. Maybe another ad with a slightly different look.

Mahalo, Marp. Now I can weigh in. Nope. Not a clue. Doesn't look even vaguely familiar to me, lol!

I went to the website. If you click on the guys picture it gives some more info. His name is Gregory. I don't think he's anyone well known.

he looks a bit like a scruffy michael douglas..... other than that, he doesnt really look or sound like anyone in particular to me.

CH,

Yes, that is the ad in question. Also found a website that may explain the familiar look. Still, after looking at the video ... As I mentioned earlier perhaps he is ringing a bell from having seen him in other commercials, perhaps as a background character. Or, maybe just from some angles he reminds me of someone else.

YES. Thank you. That's who he reminded me of, particularly the shot about 9 seconds into the Youtube video.

Ok, he's nobody well known. Too bad, McDonalds missed a chance to have someone known for being an authority on women do the advising. It would have made the commercial better.

I thought it might be the younger guy in makeup. Makes sense with the dialog.

What do you think?

How could having a 'famous' person on the commercial made it better? You kind of thought it was a famous person and you are posting about it....I reckon MickeyD hit their mark.

I think it is supposed to be the young guys older self, telling him to go ahead and be brave and meet the girl of his dreams.

I was wondering that too! It looks to me like Arte Johnson from Laugh In.
