? for those who own a California King bed?

Do I understand correctly that a Cal. King is not as wide but a little bit longer than a regular King size bed? If so, is bedding hard to find for Cal. King beds? Do regular blankets fit okay? Thanks!

Eastern (regular King) size:

  • Overall dimensions: 76" wide x 80" long

Western (CA King) size:

  • Overall dimensions: 72" wide x 84" long

That's all I know, we have a regular King, and sheets etc are easy to find, just $$.

We have a CA King size bed (sleep number). It's 72 wide by 84 long, where a regular king is 76 wide by 80 long. Hubby is tall so he likes the extra length on the CK. I have never found CA King sheets in a regular store. I buy them all on-line, either from QVC or JCPenney. I think the quality with QVC has gone down and the price has gone up. I really like JCPenney sheets. Right now (today only I think) you can get 20% off and free shipping to a store at JCPenney. Just go to their website and it's on the home page. I think you have to use the JCP CC card.

Regular King size sheets will not fit a CA King bed, but the King size blankets do fit (I have several northern nights down blankets). In fact, because of the size difference, I like that I get a little extra in the width and not so much in the length (it still drapes over the bottom of the bed). Most blankets are too long in my opinion and not wide enough.

Hope that helps.

We are in CA so the sheets are available everywhere. Macy's have wonderful sheets that you can order on line and in the catalogue.

Thanks, everyone. I asked for measurements on the two beds I'm considering. The california king is 80 1/2" wide x 89" long. The regular king is 84" wide x 87" long. . These are the measurements for the BED, not the mattress. These measurements don't sound right to me. The two beds are the exact same style. I would think there should be more of a difference in the measurements. Hmmmm.........

You can find good quality and name brand sheets at Home Goods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Steinmart. ShopNBC also carries nice sheets. All of them have a nice variety of colors and high thread counts.

I have a Cal King bed and sometimes I order sheets from Overstock.com. I think you can find these sheets at most major department stores.

We have a california king in CA, it is hard here to get anything else but CA king sheets, I have gotten sheets at Costco. We have a regular king in AZ, and I like the fact that the king is wider, we are not that tall, and I like having more room, especially with the dog sharing our bed.

I have Cal King and yes, sometimes sheets are hard to find. My next bed will be a regular King.

Maybe the king is a better choice...........or even another queen....but I've always wanted a king. Decisions, decisions!

I have a Cal King bed and find it difficult to find sheets and bedspreads/comforters. Also, it is so darn heavy and cumbersome to make the bed. It is longer than the regular king and a little more narrow. Sorry we ever bought one.

Do you wish you had bought a queen size? I'm still debating on which one to get.

I have a CA king (0r western king). I have no problems buying linens, except from places in the east.

I like the extra length of the bed. There's room for my pets by my feet.:)

I've never had a problem buying linens for our Cal. King bed. There are lots of on-line and brick and mortar stores which offer a wide variety of good to excellent sheets.

My husband is 6'2". A CA king would be great for him. I'm still on the fence about which one to buy.
