Does anyone else have hot water coming out of their cold water spigot because of the extreme heat?

Everytime I turn on the cold water, hot water comes out! It takes at least a minute or 2 of running it before it turns barely cool. This summer is the first time that it is this bad.

We were 97* yesterday, + high humidity, which made the heat index seem like 110*. This year really does seem much more extreme than past years, with so many record-breaking tornadoes, floods, droughts, hail storms, volcano eruptions, earthquakes, etc.

yes, it takes a little while for the water to cool down... it's been very hot here for the last 2 months.

I live not too far from you, Jupiter, and I find this is typical for Florida. The water is never really cool.

We have been very hot for the past 3 months but, in the past, the water would be warm, not hot! I always think that maybe I turned on the wrong spigot! I can wash a dish or 2 with the cold water spigot before it cools down at all!

Oh my! And I am complaining since it is hot and has not rained! No, my water, thank goodness, is ice cold as I have two spring water wells. I saw that dust storm again in Az. and they said that pools were made into mudpits in certain areas. The planet is heating up, regardless. Years ago, it would pour here so hard you could not drive. To have that again.. We have bubblers in our rose gardens and have to log the time and amount of water, etc./rotate so every garden gets enough to survive w/o ruining the wells. Scary.

Yes, I saw that! My grass is really brown in areas because we have water restrictions and can only water the lawn once or twice a week, for a few minutes in the early morning.

The tree that was planted in my yard looks thirsty. A man comes every morning and uses a big bucket with a special hose attached to feed the poor thing.

That doesn't actually work. Where my kids took swimming years ago (private) the owner got two trucks full of ice and the temp change didn't last 1/2 hr, nor was appreciable.

Certainly not worth what it cost him! Happens we have an ice house in the next town.

4 cities, surrounding my city, had water warnings for the past 4 days! They had to boil all of their water for at least one minute before using it for anything! Thank goodness, my city wasn't included in that. There were 200,000 people affected by it. It just finally ended. My city water is from a separate utilities department.

My cold water faucet is never really ice cold at all. If I use cold cycle in the washer, it is really more warm than cold. I live in Texas. Need I say more?

At my parents house, in AZ, we only use the cold water during the summer to shower, as it is plenty warm... There is no such thing as cool water coming out of the cold water tap from about May through September....

Since the water situation is so bad. . . why run the cold water? Fill your glass and put some ice cubes in it. Easy fix.

We too, in Iowa are BURNING UP. If you leave your car to go into a store for 10 minutes, you need padding on your hands to touch the steering wheel or gear shift. Ouch!!!!!

yes, warm water like we typically do in the summer. Not extremely hot water coming thru it but warmer than usual and it doesn't cool down.

We started hitting hot mid to high 90 degree summer weather early this year around May 21st. A month early and alreayd had some 100s in June and that doesn't usually come so early in June for us.

We are not as hot right now as some parts of the country though. We are not in a heat wave. We just came off of 3 days of temps in the high 80s and going now into the mid 90s forecasted the rest of this week.

My dear, if you live in Arizona you get lukewarm to very warm water from your cold water faucet in the summer. It is a pain in the you know what but nothing you can do about it to my knowledge..

All summer long. Pipes must be too close to the surface. Water never gets cold in the summer in 100+ degrees.

I guess I should have mentioned that I'm in Arizona.

This heat is coast to coast. Upstate Central NY checking in here. I have well water and live in the middle of grape country, but I have always noticed that my cold water doesn't really run cold in this weather. AZ I can understand, but Upstate NY??!! {#emotions_dlg.scared}

If the water is for drinking, why not use ice cubes instead of wasting water running it for 2 minutes?

We always have lukewarm water here in the summer. Our water sits in one of those huge water tanks behind us. I am always glad when it gets cold again and I once again have cold water. I told my husband last night he needs to turn our water tank off it is that warm.
