Just got back from the market and the house brand, "Ralph's" was advertised for $6.99 lb and many brands were $8/lb!!

i swear, last week they were $4.99 to 5.99/lb-

I honestly felt like i was walking into the "Twilight Zone"...

Is it like this in other parts of the country?

Sure wish i wold have invested in pork bellies instead of coffee....

I am in So Cal too.....bacon is insane.

I buy it at Costco and it comes to about $3.50 a pound.

Bacon is one product I only buy when it's on sale for buy one/get one free. While we like bacon, if we never had it again - would it really matter? I decided NOT!!

I think Oscar Meyer is $6.99 right now, not on sale, so it's not in MY fridge! It's the only brand I buy. Don't look at the others, but store brands are usually less than national brands.

I can't tell as I don't eat pork. I do purchase other items and they are ridiculously sky high in price. The cost of food is out of this world! Just one bag can run $100.

Went to Walmart yesterday, only bought staples like paper towels, laundry detergent, shampoo, etc. It came to $100 and I didn't even have any food!

Big jump in the past month.

I haven't bought any lately, but waiting to see it on sale. I really like the Oscar Meyer thick cut and usually get a few when they are on sale. I like to keep some in the freezer as it is vacuum sealed and stores super well in there. Maybe that's why I've not seen it on ad for some time at my store. It used to run on ad pretty frequently for something in the $3-4 range.

Well stand by, because according to MSN, prices at WalMart will see a jump across the board beginning June 1. The price of feed corn is almost off the charts which causes the price of meat to rise.

It is insane. I love it but will now only buy with a sale and/or coupon.

There are some brands for $8 at my local store. I hope they don't sell and then the grocery store has to mark them down for quick sale.

acon is $2.99-$3.99 a lb. I noticed everything has gone up drastically in Just couple weeks since my last trip. I usually market weekly but hubby has been sick so I haven't been out since he has been in hospital. Eat out which isn't that expensive compared to gas to and vfrom store...buying...cooking.

The price for a basic pack of bacon has gotten outrageous. I'm in the midwest. I don't purchase it very ofter but a friend who purchases a few packs a week says that a pack of basic bacon (not thick cut, peppered, etc.) is around $6.99 or higher. This is the same bacon that used to cost around $2.99 or $3.99 a pack.

Poor but Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought 3 lbs for $9.99 yesterday. I froze half as I don't like to eat a lot of bacon but was craving a BLT. When I lived in Calif Ralph's was the highest priced supermarket on everything. I liked Stater Bros & still miss their meat.

You could always avoid the high costs and become a vegetarian.

Last month - Butterball "turkey bacon" was on sale - buy one/get one free - originally 3.99 each, so it was like getting each one for about $2.00 each - plus, I had 6 - 50 cent coupons that "double" up to 60 cents off - so I got $1.00 off - final price came to $1.00 a piece. Needless to say, I bought 6 packages and placed them in my big freezer in my basement. Should last a little while. I love turkey bacon.

I love to laugh and dance......

It really does depend on where you are. I saw a dramatic increase in one brand, Wright's, but the rest are still very competitive. I've seen it as low as $2.50/lb., and what I have in the freezer was purchased a month ago at Wal Mart for around $3/lb. I love Wright's, but the price is obnoxious, and Hormel's thick slice is almost as good.

Yeah, FINALLY!!!!! Run Trey, run!

I'd go broke being a vegetarian as meat is cheaper in my area. Besides, I tried the diet, and not only was I grumpy and hungry 24/7, but my immune system crashed so I was sick constantly. Now I eat low carb with lots of meat, and I haven't had so much as a cold in years. I also whacked 100 points off my cholesterol.

Yeah, FINALLY!!!!! Run Trey, run!

I have noticed the price of bacon. I only buy Oscar Meyer and now only on sale!

Also good brands of butter have gone up and mayonnaise also. I just came back from a local store that ran a coupon in the Sunday paper for two jars of Best Foods mayonnaise for $5.

I just stock up when things are on sale. Unfortunately I do not have a big freezer but mine is full of salmon, lobster and chicken that I have gotten on sale.

It depends what store you shop at. It's been high as $6.99 a pound. Here store brand is around $4.99/pound. It increased in the last few months. I used to get name brand for 2 for $5.00/$6.00 on sale. Not anymore. We eat lots of bacon here.

The only time we eat bacon is in the summer. (BLTs with Jersey tomatoes) I will buy it whatever the cost. If we were to buy those BLTs at a restaurant, we would be paying far more so they will be worth the splurge.

I only eat bacon when the tomatoes get ripe. BLTs are great with heirloom tomatoes. Even if it is expensive, I'll buy some.

I buy it only when on sale also. The last I bought was a good brand- don't remember what- but it was 3.99 a pound, I bought 3 packages and put them in the freezer. It was usually 7.99 a pound. BLT's, now that soulds good!

Who eats bacon? It's full of fat and sodium - no wonder the average size for women now is a size 14.
