I have to go to the tailor tomorrow and can't be home all day....I don't think I have ever had a package from Fed come when I have been gone..We usually always are serviced by UPS

They will but only if it does NOT require a signature.

Mine will - safe neighborhood, etc., - but only if no sig is required by sender.

Hi Cherry!

Yes, they will just leave it.{#emotions_dlg.angry} I had a coat delivered by them last week. I was home and waiting for the truck to come. The delivery guy NEVER rang my doorbell and I knew he was on the porch because I heard him come up. I opened the front door as he was getting to the bottom step.

I was just glad I was at home.

I can only please one person a day...Today is Not Your Day....tommorow is not looking good either!

Sure...they do it all the time. Debbie is right...if it needs a signature, then no. K

Yes, but ours is not too bright. I had to leave a note where to place it so I could get the door open. LOL. UPS guy is much smarter.

If there is a signature required and you wont be home you can leave a note on the door stating you want them to leave it and sign the note, they will take the note with them. Some items cant be left even with a note but most items can if you leave a note.

That's kind of mean. I wonder what he'd say about you.

I'm steaming mad at our USPS mailman today. He left a pink form in the mailbox so I have to go to the post office in town tomorrow to get my Christmas package that should have been delivered before 12/25 in the first place. The package needs a signature, and someone was home all day today so the mailman never even tried to get a signature. That's why he didn't get a tip for Christmas. Poor service.

They come right to my door, so if I'm not 'sure' about a signature I leave a note, with my signature on it. Seems to work. Do it for both UPS and FED X.

I think ennui meant that it's mean to say the guy is not too bright.

There are different requirements. Direct Signature required and indirect sig. required.

I have only ever had one package that absolutely required me to sign in front of the fedex guy.

All the indirect ones, I just leave a note. They have a form you can print out and leave also.

fed ex and UPS both leave at my door, which I don't like. it's taken multiple complaints to USPS to get them to stop that practice. I don't trust neighbor kids. one package has been lost and that was enough.

cherry, most times they do leave it, unless the sender requests a signature.

Fed Ex always puts mine in a plastic bag when I am not home.

Hi, cherry, I had two items (outdoor fans for my porch, heavy, about 60 lbs in total) stolen off my porch a few months ago because Fed Ex left them there. I have not had that happen before.

They are not so great about making it OK when this happens. The vendor sent replacements, though.

I've lived 20 years in my house, though, and the other shipments have been OK.

Fed Ex in my neighborhood happens to deliver in early morning. Who is home then? I get USPS and UPS in the early evening.

Yes, they will, and leave a sticky note on your door!

They'll even leave it at the wrong house too!

yea, but she didn't write that on the note she left, I hope. Otherwise what would she have done that HE would have to say she was being mean about?

Call the post office & make a complaint & tell them you want it delivered.

Long as it's under 500 dollars, they will leave it. They don't need a signature unless you tell them you don't want them to leave anything without getting a signature.

Will Fed Ex leave a package if you aren't home?

cherry,

I know both the regular drivers with FedX and UPS well. Needless to say that has a lot to do with my wife and myself doing most of our purchases with online retailers. Since I am retired I have met both of them and they agreed to put all the packages in a certain place for us if we are not home.

The only time neither of them will do this is if the package "requires a signature", they will then leave a paper to sign, and should I be gone the next day they will leave it in our agreed safe spot, and take my signed receipt with them.

As for others? Beats me, I have however had both of these drivers leave neighbors packages with me when the neighbors are not home. We live in an area which is real dense with trees and we only have 2 neighbors anywhere's close to us. I think the drivers ask those neighbors first before they will leave one of their packages with us.

This is how it works in my experience. $500 is the threshold amount.
