Can hot chocolate mix go bad?

We have packages of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate. They've been around for a few years. Do you think they are still okay to drink? I'm craving chocolate and trying to be good.

Chocolate was born bad {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

If they've been in a dry cupboard they're fine. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} Yum!

Ribbon, but I love chocolate. I made myself a cup, and I'm still here. So, I guess it doesn't go bad. :)

Ahh, the old "absence of death" test... Sorry, my chiropractor once told me that's how his wife judges if she's ill or something is bad... the phrase just cracks me up... sorry...

Unless something got into it and it got wet, I think it's fine. Most packages have a use by date, so I'd double check...

Hot chocolate does sound good right about now!

If it's sealed it should still be good.

Well, the Diet Swiss Miss does begin to smell and taste off, even if it doesn't cause "death", lol! I tried some packets that were at least a yr. (or more) past expiration. Didn't taste quite right.

Back in the low carb craze I got about a zillion packets of Keto hot chocolate (sugar-free, low carb). I put them all in Lock & Locks. Still using them and it's been definitely over 5 years.

Desi, I would be a LOT more careful with anything using an artificial sweetener because age could change the chemical composition, along with the taste and smell of the product.

I doubt it's still good, but even if it was, the thought of it a few years old would turn me off....Swiss Miss has an expiration date on it....I recently tossed an expired box and bought a new one.

You are such a good friend that if both of us were on a sinking ship and there was only one life jacket......I'd miss you heaps and think of you often.

Thanks Marp, I actually pitched the box. A jumbo BJ's box. Better safe than sorry. I think it was the milk ingredient that turned, like old dried skimmed milk does (not like that ever tastes great!). {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
