What happened to that show "RUBY"

Started 1291562845.447 in Viewpoints | Last reply 1291596143.647 by HiLo

I use to follow that show Ruby with the woman from Georgia that was trying everything to lose weight. I haven't seen the show listed. Am I missing it? Thought she was a sweetheart.

I don't know, but I miss it too, would love to know how she is doing.

No longer a bug! ; )

In "googling," she seems to have disappeared round about April of this year. In my view, she never seemed terribly serious about weight loss. I did not follow her closely, just now and then. A sad case.

Not serious? Didn't she lose a couple hundred pounds?

I think you are right, Briggsie, she did lose quite a bit initially (100+ pounds), enough so that she was mobile and able to enjoy life more. That enabled her to get her own show. It just seemed like the few times I was able to view the show she was not terribly serious about losing more. Sorry if I didn't explain myself completely!

I liked to watch it too, but our cable company no longer offers the Style Network. {#emotions_dlg.mad}

found this on the message board part of the show site....

Yes, it is really disconcerting that the gap between shows has been so long. Ruby has mentioned her disappointment with this on Facebook and other sites but has indicated that there were some network negotiations or other factors involved. You have a good point that lots of people have surely moved on . . . I know that many of the previously avid message board posters have not been visiting. It was a long lonely summer for the two or three of us long-time posters that were eagerly scraping around for any news of Ruby! (See many previous pitiful postings . . . )

Don't lose hope in seeing more of Ruby and her journey! Ruby says that she will be back for season 4 in mid January. She says that she fell off the wagon a bit between L.A. and New york and gained back twenty pounds so I think we will still be able to see her continue her battle.

I watched it and thought that it was really getting too much - Ruby and her friends are drama queens. Perhaps it was done that way to get ratings but Ruby with her friends got on my nerves. Ruby alone - was fine.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair. Douglas Adams

why do people get so invested in these shows?

I watched it once and thought it was depressing. All of them seemed aimless and self absorbed. Ruby acts like a whiney child and no one should have to endure whiney children.

Pssst ...go fly a kite! I'm not obsessed with any show dear I'm just asking a question about a show I watched and was curious of what happened. Why did you open the thread then if you weren't interested? Or was it to obnoxious?

Invested??? Funny. Not so much. I sort of compare it to not being able to look away from an automobile accident.

I think the story line just gets old after awhile with all reality shows.

It's a shame they left us hanging, we never did find out if all her weight issues was due to being molested as a child. Thanks a lot, Style network.

She whined too much on the show. I bet she gained it all back. I hope she found a man.Her exbf wasn't too nice and wanted her thin.

Ruby lost 200 lbs BEFORE she started the show, and then an additional 200 lbs--best of luck to her!

I wondered if it was because the weight loss was not as fast as they wanted For someone who had such an established eating pattern I always thought that though it would have taken longer to lose the diet should not have been so extreme. When a person is hungry and deprived of all the foods they love and have been used to eating, I can understand why she would eventually fall off the wagon. Even cutting back gradually would have helped Ruby lose weight; she had to be a big eater to begin with.
