Best /worst commercials.

Started 1288978094.887 in Viewpoints | Last reply 1289374487.98 by aubnwa01

I record everything and watch my shows at various times because I cannot stand commercials and generally scan them all.

BUT.... right now, I LOVE the HP printer commercial with the baby in the walker rolling thru the streets. I stop the remote to watch the baby and cant stop laughing.

Worse commercial for me is the talking mannequins in the Old Navy ad. I love ya Old Navy, but hire real people! lol

I love the HP printer ad as well! I also am touched by the car ad when the father is telling the daughter how to drive and it pans into the daughter as a little girl and then as an adult. Very moving for a stupid commercial!

I HATE the one (I think maybe it's for some online movie service) where some spy-looking guy sneaks into a young geek's computer room, pulls a blowgun from inside his coat, and starts shooting the kid with darts, finally killing him with a direct hit to the neck. Why would I want to watch that? I protest every time I see it!

I don't have Allstate insurance, but I like the commercials where a young man personifies various kinds of "mayhem" that can befall us. Very effective, and amusing at the same time.

The Chase commercials especially: Beer and Wine and Cupcakes...that women's nasally voice is so grating...

I love any commercial that has animals. I remember one that was selling a dog food. At the beginning of commerical it showed the dog as a puppy and at the end he was old barely able to get up the steps. I use to almost cry at the commercial.

anyone remember that commerical for some detergent..'ANCIENT CHINESE SECRET"?

Yes! That's a horrible commercial. Hate the Old Navy ones too. One I like is the polar bear hugging the guy with the electric car.

The commercial that has the "that's the good stuff" song has worn out it's welcome for me. And any commercial that comes on blasting the volume is just mute worthy.

Not too fond of the tp commercial saying we can afford to enjoy going more now that it's softer and a value???? Believe me I haven't been holding back.

Yes, that car ad, with the little girl behind the wheel, always gets me, every single time! I love the Humana commercial, where the little children are sitting with their grandparents and it shows their special, loving bond. I especially love the insurance commercial with the adorable dog who takes his bone to the bank and keeps it there for security, and then brings it back home again. I LOVE that dog!

Yes that is annoying. As will be the Vermont teddygram commercials that will starting up for Christmas.

I agree that it's a bad commercial. Great music used on it though.

My vote for best is the Allstate 'mayhem' guy. Hilarious. Especially like 'I am the hot babe jogging down the street', 'the teenage girl on a cell phone' , and the 'dog who ate your car seat'. Reminds me of the great British humor in commercials.

E-trade baby is still the funniest one going - the new ones with the dog and the "time-out" in the crib - hilarious!!!

the baby in the walker is good, too! - I love the song "Brand New Key" - it's good to hear it again....

I'm really hating the kid from the Toyota Highlander commercials. He's afraid his parents will embarrass him by driving the wrong car? Shut up and get in, brat.

I like the Geico pig going "wee wee wee all the way home". Maxwell, that's the pig's name. Too cute! I refuse to watch that whooping cough "public service" ad for vaccines, with the baby coughing and not stopping, that is so horrid. Just makes me mad and irritated. As soon as the first second comes on, I turn the channel. I also protest, and turn the channel immediately at the Humane society commercial with all the abused and suffering animals. I support animal rights, and contribute to a couple shelters, but that commercial is not one I care to even think about.

I cannot stand the "Mayhem" commercials. For some reason, they drive me crazy. I also cannot stand political ads and ads for prescription drugs. I immediately turn them off. Having suffered medical issues in the past, I do not want to continually hear about sickness and disease and meds to take for them, especially when the side effects can be worse than the disease itself.{#emotions_dlg.crying}

One I don't like is the one where the mom takes her daughter's shirt without asking, gets a stain on it, and hides it in the hamper. When the daughter asks about it, the mom acts like she doesn't know anything about it. Nice example mom. Take something without asking, and lie about it. Not a smart ad.

I noticed yesterday they altered it a little so it doesn't show the mom outright lying like it did before.

One of my friends has a brat like that. She put her own car (a luxury minivan) in the shop for a routine service, and got a loaner. The loaner was just a regular sedan, nice but nothing fancy. Her nine year old son refused to get in it to go to school because his pals would make fun of him arriving in that.

I don't know what I thought was worse, the kid for being such a snob at his age, or the mother for telling us the story (rather than being embarrassed to death about her son).

This one crackes me up. The lady is in her houserobe at night with the door open calling for Fluffy or something, her cat to come inside and then a raccoon comes in and she says "good kitty, time for bed". I think the ad was for an eye exam. I can identify.

Me too! That one always gets to me - I guess because my DD recently started driving, and we go thru that whole conversation every time!
